Kirstie Alley is asking friends to set her up with Bradley Cooper

This story is from The National Enquirer, which regularly uses Kirstie Alley’s twitter feed for leads on ways to hilariously mock her in their deadpan journalistic-sounding style. (I love them so much.) So at first I assumed that’s how they came up with this story, and that Kirstie’s crush on Bradley Cooper is similar to the way she was cyber drooling all over Jamie Foxx. I searched her Twitter feed, though, and couldn’t find anything on Cooper there. So if she didn’t tweet about Cooper at all, that shows me that this story is probably true. It’s so random it must be. Plus Kirstie is delusional enough about her size and sex appeal to actually do this. She supposedly is “desperate for a date” with Bradley Cooper and thinks “she can have any man in Hollywood.” She’s trying to get mutual friends to set her up with him. Mwahahah!

The 60 year-old former “Fat Actress” - who has dropped an astonishing 100 pounds in the past several months - has been asking mutual friends to set her up with [Bradley Cooper], who is 36. But her cougar crush isn’t likely to work out, say sources, because the handsome actor is “just not that into her.”

“Kirstie has been desperate for a date with Bradley,” an insider revealed.

“Since dropping the pounds, Kirstie believes she can have any man in Hollywood - and Bradley is her number one pick.

“They have mutual friends, and Kirstie told them she wanted to meet Bradley. She thinks once he gets to know her, the feelings will be mutual.

“Bradley is just about to start production on a new movie that shoots in Philadelphia. Now Kirstie is telling pals that she has some business to do in Philadelphia and that she hopes Brad will find time to have a coffee with her…”

Bradley’s not really interested! “Bradley is looking to meet somebody to settle down with an start a family,” added the insider.

And that’s not Kirstie!

[From The National Enquirer, print edition, October 24, 2011]

Again, I totally believe this! Kirstie was married to Parker Stevenson, so she might have a “metrosexual, bland, possibly not straight” type. I also love how the Enquirer is so understated about the fact that Kirstie doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell. This story just amused the heck out of me.

Duchess Kate in a red Beulah London gown: flattering & pretty?

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 08:39 AM PDT

waity1

Duchess Kate is slowly getting into the swing of things! Last week, she finally signed on to her first charity patronage (her husband's), and last night she was on her husband's arm at a charity gala. It's sort of confusing, trying to figure out what the charity gala was for or who held the thing. Something about 100 Women In Hedge Funds, and I think the money raised went to the Child Bereavement Charity - about $1 million in all. You can read more about it here and here.

But you care about the fashion, right? Kate wore this red, figure-hugging Beulah London. Well, I think it's supposed to be figure-hugging, but it looks slightly loose on Kate's slender frame. No, I don't think she's pregnant yet. Tiny little waist, and her boobs are either the same size or smaller. Still, I like the color on her. Kate always stuns in jewel tones - most brunettes do. And the style of the gown, with the loose sleeves, is rather interesting for her. It looks like something Sienna Miller would wear, right? The V-neck reminds me of Kate's beloved Issa dresses, and I'm reminded once again of the fact that if she had any kind of curves, her style wouldn't be viewed as "conservative" because her cleavage would be busting out all over the place.

Also - it looks like she's gotten highlights in her hair, right? Red highlights.

Linnocent blew off community service and court-ordered therapy, of course

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 08:03 AM PDT

fp_8014948_rij_lindsay_lohan_50_55

Here she is once again, Our Crackhead Superstar, Our Methy Lodestone, Our Busted, International Hooker. These are just more photos from Linnocent's appearance for some video game premiere two nights ago - we covered her "teeth of meth" and her budget Barbie hair yesterday. Anyway, guess what happened to our fine lady (of the night)? She got kicked out of her community service program. Like, the Downtown Women's Center is the new Chateau Marmont, and they don't want to be tainted by the Cracken's scabies. Honestly, though, it's even worse than that. On the rare occasions when Linnocent did appear for her scheduled hours, she was a hot mess. But most of the time she just skipped. Because… why not?

Lindsay Lohan has been kicked out of the program where she was supposed to complete her community service because she violated the rules numerous times … TMZ has learned.

Judge Stephanie Sautner ordered Lohan to serve 360 hours at the Downtown Women’s Center in L.A., as part of her probation in the shoplifting case. Part of the deal — the judge required her to be reliable, non-disruptive, and serve at least 4 hours at a time.

But sources tell us … Lindsay blew off 9 scheduled visits … and when she did show up, she would often bail after working there for only an hour.

Sources say … 2 weeks ago, she was terminated from the Women’s Center because of the violations. The Probation Department’s volunteer center has now assigned her to a new community service program at the Red Cross. We got a pic of Lindsay doing her community service there earlier this week.

Now here’s the BIG problem … Lindsay is due back in court next week for a progress hearing. Judge Sautner made it clear … there would be no more second third fourth fifth sixth chances. If she screwed up again, she was going to jail.

And just for bad measure, we’ve learned aside from Lindsay’s violations at the Downtown Women’s Center, the number of community service hours she has racked up so far is “very unimpressive.”

[From TMZ]

Blah, blah, blah, crack, snort, chug. Why should anyone get their hopes up that THIS time something will actually happen to her? I've said it before: the California legal system has given up on Linnocent. They just don't give a crap. They won't care unless she kills someone, and even then, the judge will probably be all, "I'm very disappointed in you. You must do ten extra hours of community service and promise me that you'll be a good girl!" And Linnocent will blow that off too. "Blow," as always, being the operate word with Linnocent.

So will she finally end up in jail? I honestly think she won't. Shawn Holley will find some technicality ("You never said she couldn't do her community service in between shots of tequila and lines of cocaine!") and Lindsay will be strutting her crack lips out of the courthouse once again. If it wasn't so insane, tragic, horrible, insulting, infuriating, disgusting, and FUBAR, it might actually be funny.

UPDATE: TMZ is now reporting that LL “has violated the judge’s order in her probation case by not seeing a psychologist at least once a week … TMZ has learned … and that may be enough to send her to the slammer. Judge Stephanie Sautner made it clear to Lindsay during her sentence last May … she MUST see the shrink every week, but she has not. We’re told one of her excuses is that she’s been working out of the country, but Judge Sautner made it extremely clear … work is not an excuse for failing to comply with the terms of probation.” So she blew off community service AND court-ordered therapy. Of course.

UPDATE: Oh, holy hell. Linnocent’s publicist shares the pipe with her. When People Magazine contacted Linnocent’s publicist, Steve Honig, about the state of her crazy teeth, this is what he said:

“Lindsay is widely acknowledged as one of the most stunning actresses of her day, and we get requests every week wanting to do photo shoots with her from top photographers… She’s been on the cover of Vanity Fair and the top beauty and fashion magazines. She’s a beautiful and glamorous actress. With everything going on – from deteriorating public education to rampant homelessness to international unrest – there is no way I’m going to comment on Lindsay’s teeth.”

[From People]

BEAUTIFUL AND GLAMOROUS. Of course. That’s what I think as well when I see these photos.

Jennifer Aniston says she can do more than “that rom-com girl-next-door thing”

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 08:02 AM PDT

anistonelle1

Last week, we covered the first excerpts from Jennifer Aniston's Elle Magazine cover profile. It wasn't a traditional cover story, though - Aniston was chosen as the cover girl for the "Women In Hollywood" issue, which… I disagree with. I disagree with using Aniston as the de facto poster girl for a successful women in Hollywood. It’s not that she's NOT successful in a financial sense (she is), and she's definitely one of the few women who producers consider "able to open" (although she has difficulties opening without a strong male lead). But in a magazine issue where you're trying to celebrate the achievements of interesting, diverse, talented ladies, I just think there are much better potential cover girls to choose from. Think of the ladies who have turned in stunning, award-winning work this year. Kate Winslet. Mia Wasikowska. Viola Davis. Evan Rachel Wood. Claire Danes. But I digress…

So, Aniston and the excerpts. Everyone paid attention to her comments on babies - "There's no desperation. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I'm at peace with whatever the plan is. But will you hate me if I say I don't want to talk about my relationship?" But there are more gems in the print interview:

On the Horrible Bosses script and typecasting: "My jaw dropped. I thought 'Wow. What took so long?' I've been categorized as that rom-com girl-next-door thing. But we're actors. If given the chance, we can pull some other stuff off."

On the tabloids: "I remember being on the cover of Us Weekly - willingly! Not with my head stuck next to somebody else's going, Jen Versus so-and-so! Rage! Scandal! Bullsh-t!"

Advice to her younger self: "Stop taking everything so seriously. Stop being so sensitive. [That changed for me] probably about six, seven years ago. It's the moment you come from the ashes and go, This is nothing."

On The Break-up: "It was summer in Chicago - happy, happy times. I look at this picture and think of marriage. How many times have you been in a relationship when nobody is budging?"

On her most surreal Hollywood moment: "I've had many. I've been lucky. But I would have to say it was meeting Sophia Loren backstage at the Oscars. That was a pretty good one. I was like Cindy Brady in that Brad Bunch episode where she was on the game show and she just stared at that red light."

Was there a role she fought for but didn't win? "I've lost all the battles that I fought for."

Did she have regrets when she saw someone else in the role? "No, I sat there and went, 'That actually was better that way.'"

On a time when she stood up to a male director: "I threw a chair at a director. It wasn't my proudest moment. He was treating a script supervisor horribly… When the director walked in, I threw a chair at him. I missed, of course. I was like, ‘You can't speak to people like that.’ I can't tolerate it."

[From Elle Magazine, print edition]

I found her comments about Horrible Bosses interesting - "I've been categorized as that rom-com girl-next-door thing. But we're actors. If given the chance, we can pull some other stuff off." That's always the hit against Aniston, that she rarely breaks out of the rom-com mold. On this, I'll defend her slightly: Audiences tend to actively dislike films where she tries to do something different. Remember that one she did with Clive Owen, where she was, like, the femme fatale? Hardly anyone bought it. But Horrible Bosses did okay, and maybe she'll be doing more of that.

Oh, by the way - she's not pregnant. Us Weekly had a story yesterday about Aniston and Theroux partying with the SNL cast over the weekend, and they said that Jennifer was drinking Grey Goose. So… she's still getting her drink on, and there's no BABY. You can read the piece here - there's a mention of how "cute" she and Justin are together, and how he's a "complete gentleman". Because those are the new keywords that her publicist drops into every report these days.

Reese Witherspoon, Chelsea Handler in the ‘This Means War’ trailer: disappointing?

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 07:57 AM PDT

fp_7083369_handlerwitherspoon_dinner_excl_lucanm_04_04

Have you ever watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith and wondered to yourself, "Gee, what would this film be like if there was a lot more homoeroticism and the female lead was the stereotypical airhead?" Thus, This Means War. It's the film that Reese Witherspoon did with Tom Hardy and Chris Pine. Chelsea Handler is in it too, as Reese's BFF. This is all part of Chelsea's big plan to branch out into more film and television work as a real actress or something. And the only time I laughed during the trailer is when Chris Pine calls her "an old man".

Does anyone else think the film is going to be hampered by the fact that Tom Hardy and Chris Pine are unevenly matched in sex appeal? Pine is okay as far as looks go, but when Tom Hardy whips out the accent and the big guns (so to speak), there really is no contest. I can't imagine that this would be a reasonable contest for any sane woman.

As for Reese… I know why she took this role, but I'm still disappointed in her. It looks like she's just the one-note "love interest," a blank-slate used to react against the men's foibles and actions. But she took it because it's a big part in a big movie and she got a big paycheck, and because she's a bigger "name" than either of the dudes. But the role looks like it could have easily been filled with a lesser actress. I'm disappointed because I expect more from Reese.

As for Chelsea, she's the reason I won't be seeing this film. It's bad enough trying to watch her be a "comedienne" but trying to watch her be an "actress" is just awful. And how funny is it that she got "the Vince Vaughn role" in a budget one-off of Mr. & Mrs. Smith?

Brandi Glanville on LeAnn Rimes “My kids adore her”

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 07:55 AM PDT

wenn5704953
In Touch has an interview and look inside Brandi Glanville’s home this week. Brandi is of course the new bitch on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”. I haven’t been watching that show and will not watch it again after Russell Armstrong’s suicide, but I guess I should “never say never.” I do like Brandi and am still interested in seeing her (I emailed with her a little last year and she was so nice!) but I know that producers cook up so much fake drama on those shows. In the latest episode Kim and Kyle were seen ganging up on Brandi, sister style. We saw in the preview for this season that Brandi sniped at Kim “At least I don't do crystal meth in the bathroom all night long, bitch.” In a later edit of that preview the quote has been removed, though, and I bet Kim and Kyle pressured producers to cut it. (I can’t confirm that it didn’t air during the show this week or that it might be shown at another date of course. All google searches on that phrase lead to the original story about the crystal meth quote in the first preview.)

Brandi may be holding her own against the nasty pieces of work on RHOBH, but she seems genuinely nice in the In Touch interview. That’s the impression I’ve always had of her, that she’s nice but will defend herself and her family when it comes down to it. She said her peace when Eddie first left her for Leann, but she didn’t go on about it. I doubt I would have been as reserved. In In Touch, Brandi says that she’s doing well in her life and that she’s “in a good place” with her ex Eddie. She also says her kids “adore” LeAnn Rimes. She could have made a snide remark about it, and one was definitely called for, but she didn’t. Here’s more.

wenn3425118

“They are a very competitive group of women,” Brandi… tells In Touch [of RHOBH].

But when Brandi comes home to her sons, Mason, 8, and Jake, 4, she leaves the drama at the door. “I’m happy here,” Brandi says as she relaxes on the comfy couch in her new LA abode, a four bedroom escape that’s become her personal refuge from all the craziness that’s cropped up in her life.

Despite the drama, Brandi says she’s thrilled to be on the Bravo show. “This came along at a really amazing time for me,” says Brandi… “It was a difficult time” [in 2009 when Eddie left her for LeAnn]…

Not long after [her divorce], she fell in love again - but this time, with her new home, which is “humbling” in comparison to the mega-mansion she shared with Eddie. “At first, I worried the boys would be upset that we don’t have a pool and everything they had before, but they say, ‘We love this house! We don’t ever want to leave!:

Relieved that her sons are happily ensconed in their new home and that they’ve settled into a familiar routine of school, sports and “family movie nights,” Brandi says she can finally exhale and start enjoying life again. “I’m definitely dating,” she says, adding that she’s going to be a lot pickier when it comes to men this time around. “No actors, no athletes. And he’s got to love dogs.”

As time has passed, she’s grown far less resentful of Eddie’s new life with LeAnn, whom he married in April. “My kids adore her,” she says, “and Eddie and I are finally in a good place.”

Brandi’s not worried about her place on RHOBH or dealing with her “catty” castmates - in fact, they should be worried about her: “I’m pretty good at being a bitch!”

[From In Touch, print edition, October 24, 2011]

Brandi’s “downsizing” would be a nice improvement for me, but it sounds like she went through the same difficult transition that a lot of divorced women deal with, she just had the advantage of having a lot more money. Her decorating style is comfortable contemporary and I like her taste. In terms of her last comment “I’m pretty good at being a bitch,” I get the impression that she means that’s the role that producers gave her on the show and she’s working on it. I hope she can keep that drama from affecting her real life. It sounds like she’s doing a good job at that, or at least that she knows what to say to keep things peaceful with her ex and his batsh*t crazy new wife.

Glenn Close does drag in the ‘Albert Nobbs’ trailer: Oscar worthy or too contrived?

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 07:35 AM PDT

albertnobbs1

There’s a new trailer for Albert Nobbs, in which Glenn Close plays the titular character, who grew up as the illegitimate daughter of a maid in 19th century Ireland. As an adult, she disguises herself in male attire to get work as a hotel butler. For her performance, Glenn is already getting some (and possibly overdue) Oscar buzz; of course, she’ll likely face stiff competition from the likes of Tilda Swinton (We Need to Talk About Kevin) and Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene). The movie also stars Aaron Johnson and Mia Wasikowska, who replaced Orlando Bloom and Amanda Seyfried. It girl out, it girl in? Well, Mia’s a much better actress than Amanda, so the movie was undoubtedly served well by the cast shuffling.

albertnobbs2

As mentioned above, Glenn is receiving much praise for her take on the role. As for the movie itself? Not so much:

[I]t doesn’t hurt that Close (a five time nominee in the ’80s) spent nearly 30 years trying to line up a chance to repeat her gender-bending off-Broadway role in a film for which she is credited as co-writer and co-producer. She may be (sadly) a bit too old for the role and there will be considerable debate about whether she actually passes as a man — she looks alarmingly like Conan O’Brien from some angles.

But she sure gives a powerhouse performance as an emotionally repressed woman who is forced to work as a hotel butler to survive in 19th century Ireland — and is undone when she falls in love with another woman.

I was even more impressed, though, by Janet McTeer as another faux man whose path Albert passes — a much more flamboyant and swaggering character who doesn’t suffer from Albert’s inner torment and is comfortable enough in her role to have married another woman.

“Albert Nobbs” has a rather claustrophic feel that, to a point, suits the story. The director, Rodrigo Garcia, is far better with actors (he’s done his best work for TV shows like “Six Feet Under” and “In Treatment”) than as a big-screen visual stylist.

Though sure to be embraced by the GLBT community and some feminists, it’s hardly a crowd pleaser.

[From NY Post]

Since this movie was literally decades in the making for Glenn Close, it truly sounds like a labor of love for her. Does she pull off playing a man in the trailer? Well, there’s truly something “off” from the moment one spots Drag Glenn in motion, but that’s sort of the point. While this movie won’t be a blockbuster by any stretch, it will certainly receive a lot of love from critics and on the indie circult, and I definitely plan on watching it too.

Michael Fassbender doesn’t want any Fass-babies at the moment

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 07:30 AM PDT

fass21

Oh, Fassbender, my love for thee is constant and unyielding, a persistent weed in your rolling field of ginger wheat. Also, I like your dong. You know what's funny? By far, the most mail I get is from the Fass-loonies, and yet not all of my posts about Fassie are big comment-getters. Why is that? Are you Fassloonies just lurkers, unsure of whether or not you should openly declare your love, especially given my slut dagger threats? You bitches have got my number! Seriously, though, there's enough Fassie to go around. He's mine, but I'll share him (sometimes). So all of ye Fassloonies, cometh. Speaking of coming (srsly), Michael has a newish interview in The Times (Magazine). I read the print edition yesterday, and there are some juicy quotes in here. I love his interviews so much - Michael is…real. Sure, he has moments where I think he's slightly pretentious, but for the most part, he's just a good actor who doesn't mind talking about himself, and he's got a very well-adjusted outlook on life. He's not angsty, he's not morose, but he's not uncomfortably happy either. He's just funny, wry, intelligent and rather kind. I love him.

On his Prometheus hair (short and blond): "I thought I looked like a ten-quid rentboy."

On flying below the radar, unlike his 'Basterds' costar Brad Pitt: "A young female fan base is the toughest to slip and slide away from. I don't suppose Robert Pattinson could just stroll down to Tesco without getting mobbed. It is nice to be able to go out and continue to observe people, a luxury as an actor."

On his family's financial troubles when he was young: "I'd ask for trainers or fashionable clothes and be told we couldn't afford them. It teaches you a lot. It surprises me the people of my age who turn around and say, 'It's not fair!' I learnt that very young. You always have to be smiling and happy when you're in front of the house, no matter what is going on in the kitchen or in your own life."

On his extreme weight loss for Hunger: "It's pretty frightening. I started to understand how mentally all-encompassing it becomes and what it must be like for people with eating disorders. I was kind of monk-like. It was like 40 days and 40 nights alone in the desert…"

On LA: "I'm afraid of what I could become if I lived in LA for too long."

On being self-reliant and liking solitude: "I think that is my trump card in this industry. That when I put my mind to something, I go for it uncompromisingly."

On relationships: "If you have a relationship you can work around it by focusing on the time you have together, which helps you not take each other for granted."

On Fass-babies: He sounds far from wanting to start a family, asking how with such a haphazard life, away for weeks or rising at 4 am, he could be a good father. "I'd want to be able to put them before everything else. But at the moment my job is the most important thing for me. I want to give it everything I can."

[From The Times, print edition]

So… when Michael and I marry, I won't get pregnant right away. That's fine with me. I'll enjoy "practicing" with the Fassdong for months. Years, even. All in the name of his career! What do you think about his comments about relationships and babies? As much as I enjoy joking around about The Fassbender, I don't actually get the impression that he's a womanizer. I think he's very confident with women (obviously, the man is sex on sticks), and he could very easily bed most women he comes across, but he doesn't. I never hear stories about him like I do with, say, Gerard Butler, or even Ryan Gosling. Either Michael is out there, boning everything that moves and he just keeps his junk tight, OR he's happier in a relationship, however transitory, and he's not out to get his rocks off with a different girl every single night. Sigh… single Fassbender. We need to introduce him to Rihanna. Imagining their sex life together… that's really, really hot.

fass11

Oh, and Michael just signed on for another new film called 12 Years a Slave. It's being directed by Steve McQueen, the director of Shame and Hunger. McQueen and Fassie are tight, and you can read more about the project here. Brad Pitt's producing!

UPDATE: Um, the trailer for Shame just came out today. JESUS CHRIST, FASSIE. I won’t be able to work for the rest of the day. Just… prepare yourselves. He pants throughout the whole thing. And when he whispers, “Slowly”… my biscuits were all “PRAISE JESUS!!” I am a believer. Fassie is magnificent.

Katie Price blames Britney Spears for the trend of sexualizing tweens

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 07:10 AM PDT

wenn3553808
Some stories just write themselves. This is Katie Price, above, in her latest promotional appearance, for a TV reality show contest she’s doing. She regularly dresses like this. If you don’t know who she is, she’s a British faux celebrity who ghostwrote a bunch of books and makes money for slapping her name on stuff and being a famewhore. She’s like Kim Kardashian without bothering to pretend she has any class whatsoever. And yes, she also has a sex tape.

katiepriceoxfordunion
Somehow Katie Price got invited to give a speech about her life at a debating society at prestigious Oxford University. She wore actual pants to the event and her boobs weren’t hanging out, which was surprising. Katie said a bunch of stuff about how she works so hard to make millions of dollars for looking like a Barbie on steroids. Then she went on about the fact that little girls are getting plastic surgery and spray tans and starting to wear makeup so young. Her five year old daughter, Princess, has been seen with makeup and false eyelashes, but that’s different. Price also said that the sexualization of children started with Britney Spear’s “Hit Me Baby” video. Really.

Katie, 33, is "disgusted" by recent trends including beauty parlours offering toddler tanning and pre-teen makeovers.

She says: "It is disgusting. I don't agree with it at all. I think surgeons and mums who encourage these young girls to have cosmetic work done, or have fake false boobs, should be shot.

"It's horrible when you see these pictures of young children wearing make-up, having fake tans and so on. It's sad."

Katie's comments come 48 hours after Prime Minister David Cameron met internet industry representatives to discuss how to stop youngsters accessing pornography online. It is something she strongly agrees with.

Of course, it is a shock to hear the surgically-enhanced, knicker-flashing, heavily made-up star come over all Mary Whitehouse. After all, she has made over £30million marketing her sexy alter ego, Jordan. And you only have to look at the fans who flock to her book signings to realise she's the poster girl for a generation of fame-hungry youngsters.

So can this really be the same Katie who enraged ex-hubby Peter Andre with a Facebook shot of their daughter Princess, then two, in full slap and false eyelashes?

Am I talking to the same doting mum who bought her little girl 100 pairs of shoes before she could even walk, straightened her curly hair and now uses Princess to model her kids' clothing range online? Yep.

But Katie is adamant she has done nothing wrong. No, blame Britney Spears instead.

"That photo of Princess wearing make-up was from my sister's Facebook page and was never meant to be made public," she says.

"It was a one-off and I didn't approve it. But Princess loves all that girlie stuff. She and her friends are always raiding my make-up bag, trying on my heels, trying to find new things. I think all little girls are like this. I don't encourage her – it's quite the opposite. I tell her, 'Do as I say, not as I do'.

"Yes, she had her hair straightened. She begged me to do it. I think people assume I'm there every day, irons at the ready, when she comes out the bath, wanting to straighten her hair. I'm not! It makes me mad. Everyone blow dries their little girl's hair and that's all I do – dry it and brush it the way she likes it.

"If Princess said, 'Mummy, I want to have fake boobs', I would say, 'No'. Of course I wouldn't let her. It's sick, it's just wrong."

The over-sexualisation of children is a subject close to Katie's heart. At the age of six she was in a park with her friend when "some weirdo" indecently exposed himself and inappropriately touched them.

It has clearly left some deep-seated emotional scars.

She continues: "It makes me really sad to think about childhoods nowadays. I was a tomboy when I was growing up, climbing up trees or whatever – innocent stuff.

"When you look at young girls at senior school today, they're wearing the shortest skirts and all trying to look like Britney.

"So I suppose maybe that's where it all started – with Britney's Hit Me Baby video, with her running around in that school uniform.

"I think the pop industry has always encouraged this kind of thing, though.

"Kids see these girls dressed in this provocative manner and want to copy them. It makes me angry, but it sells.

"To people who accuse me of in any way contributing to this over-sexualisation of kids, I say, 'What have I done sexually, or otherwise?' I don't sleep around and I love being in relationships – I'm not interested in dating loads of guys or having one-night stands. And what have I done with Princess that's so wrong? What have I done generally?"

For someone who clearly has a lot to say for herself, Katie was uncharacteristically lost for words when she addressed the Oxford Union yesterday. Her speech lasted just eight minutes before she dried up.

Katie, who wore a cream top, shiny leggings and black boots, admitted: "I'm absolutely petrified. I don't really know what to say."

Describing herself as a "rich chav" and "common as muck" she told her "posh" audience: "You are our future in here. You must be so intelligent, so brainy and fascinating to be around. I bet hanging out with you lot I'd actually learn a lot." And she got a few laughs, when she added: "I wouldn't like to play Trivial Pursuit with you."

It was another side to Katie, who has had five boob jobs and whose nights out are rarely quiet affairs.

That “do as I say, not as I do” argument never works. This is a woman who is famous for having her enormous fake tits hanging out and for wearing so much makeup, self tanner and fake hair that she looks like a real doll. It’s “disgusting” to her that moms are subjecting their daughters to the same treatment she regularly showcases on the red carpet, and it’s all Britney Spears’ fault. Oh and she’s holding a reality show contest in which people strip down to their bikinis and try to earn entry into a “boot camp” where they get to learn to be just like her. (It’s a flop in the ratings, thankfully.) That’s totally different and so less harmful to kids than Britney Spears dancing around in a sexy schoolgirl outfit in a video from 1998.

Taylor Swift donates 6,000 books to a Pennsylvania library

These are some new photos of Taylor Swift launching her new perfume at Macy's NYC. The perfume is called "Wonderstruck" and I'm sure it smells like a mixture of coffee after apple-picking, the sweat of glitter-ponies and the damp skin after a good cuddlefesting session. No, I won't make fun! That was too harsh, especially because Swifty just did something really awesome - she donated 6000 books to the Reading, Pennsylvania public libraries. I mean… come on, that's one of the coolest things I've ever heard. That's not just writing a check or showing up at some dinner (although both of those things are great) - Swifty actually did her research and gave a thoughtful donation through Scholastic Books:

Eleven-year-old Emily Rankin has looked up to Taylor Swift as long as she can remember, back to the days when the country music superstar was performing at local fairs. But now Rankin thinks even more of the Wyomissing native, thanks to her big donation to the Reading Public Library.

Swift donated 6,000 books to the library, which has divided them equally among its main, northeast, northwest and southeast branches.

The books are worth $68,000, and will be available for patrons to borrow beginning Saturday. In six months, the books will be available for inter-library loans throughout Berks County.

Rankin of Shillington was in the children’s department of the main branch in downtown Reading when the books there were unveiled Thursday, picking out a few novels she plans to read.

“I think it’s amazing she did this for her community,” Rankin said of Swift.

Library officials agree.

They learned of the donation in March during a call from Scholastic Books. They picked the books they wanted from the publisher: five copies each of 500 titles. Two copies of each title will be placed on the shelves, two others will be given as prizes and incentives for young patrons and the fifth will be kept in reserve.

The books include fiction and nonfiction for children and teens, and picture books for younger patrons, among others.

Not only will they give youngsters more books to choose from, but with Swift’s popularity, they will motivate more children and teens to read, said Bronwen Gamble, library assistant director.

The library placed a white star on the spine of the donated books to recognize Swift’s star status, and also placed a sticker inside recognizing that she purchased them.

“She adds the coolness factor to reading,” Gamble said.

Library Director Frank Kasprowicz said the donation is the largest made to the library in recent years.

Swift is on tour and did not attend the unveiling.

Her representatives told Reading library officials that she decided to help three U.S. libraries that were struggling to remain open, and picked Reading as one of them.

Kasprowicz hopes the gift motivates the community to increase its donations to the library, which has suffered from state and city funding cuts in recent years, and in 2009 almost had to close all but its main branch.

“We need this same kind of support and generosity from people and organizations closer to home,” he said. “We hope that our patrons and other members of Reading and Berks County will follow her lead and take up our cause.”

I really can't even describe how awesome I think this is, and the librarian is right, it does encourage kids to read. I've always been a reader - my parents were both huge readers growing up, and so I learned it from watching them. Not all kids have parents who read for pleasure, though, and I worry about the younger generations with their text-speak and their lack of concentration. It's nice that Taylor is out there, representing and promoting books and libraries and reading. So… I'm giving her a pass for a month. Swifty, if you want to start boning John Mayer again, here's your chance! I won't yell at you. Have at it.
