Beyonce’s fall ad campaign for the House of Dereon: busted or beautiful? Posted: 22 Aug 2012 08:50 AM PDT I really feel like The House of Dereon is the bête noire of the Beyonce-Jay-Z Empire. Everything that Jay and Bey touch must turn to gold, and to their credit, almost everything they produce feels labored over and special. The one exception to their whole vibe of "luxury, elitism, special-ness" is The House of Dereon. Because it looks like what it is – WalMart crap. Cheap designs, made inexpensively and sold to the Bey-stans at a huge mark-up. The House of Dereon was started as a pet project between Beyonce and her mother Tina. Personally, I think Tina should get most of the blame – I feel like we're seeing her tacky fingerprints all over this mess, more so than Beyonce. Bey can be kind of tacky too (at least, her style can be kind of tacky). Anyway, these are some shots from the latest House of Dereon fall ad campaign, starring Beyonce of course. The styling, the way these ads are shot… it's not completely awful. At least they look professional and somewhat luxurious, which is definitely an improvement from past Dereon ad campaigns. As for the clothes… well, this is how Beyonce has been dressing ever since she gave birth (cough). Like, she just jacked Zoe Kravtiz's 2011 style and slapped a "Dereon" label on it. I'm so sick of those hats and those sunglasses!! I would love to know how much money this Dereon crap brings into the Beyonce Empire. I can't imagine that it's seen as a respectable, quality label. Is Kristen Stewart “close to a total meltdown” or is she playing up for sympathy? Posted: 22 Aug 2012 08:20 AM PDT I think it's a good thing that Kristen Stewart has begun to emerge from her Twihard Exile. Some people are still pissed off at her, of course, but that doesn't mean we can't look at new photos of her. Pop Sugar had the first exclusive pics of Kristen, but I think she was photographed again yesterday – are these pics new? Could be. Anyway, now that this week's tabloids are slowly beginning to come in, let's see How Kristen Is Doing. Because that's a thing now – everyone has to have an opinion on How Kristen Is Doing. *Allegedly, Kristen has definitely not been back to the house she once shared with Robert Pattinson. Sources say she's been "bouncing back and forth" between her parents' Woodland Hills home and her girlfriend Scout Taylor Compton's house. *Not that Kristen has been sleeping much! Kristen "cried herself to sleep every night". Us Weekly gets even harsher – their source says: "She isn't sleeping and she stays up all night crying. She's close to a total meltdown." Kristen "can't do anything" and she's "so distraught." *Kristen's parents "are begging her to stay with them. Because they're worried she can't deal with this on her own." *Hollywood Life has a source close to Summit Entertainment who says that Robert Pattinson has already let it be known that he is "not interested" in speaking to Kristen or spending any time with her during the promotion of Breaking Dawn Part II. The source says, "Kristen Stewart is definitely still in love with Rob and is going through the motions of a breakup. She really wants him back but Rob is not interested in talking to her right now and that is certainly making things difficult for the plans on doing any press together for when Twilight comes out… Chances of them being in the same room is highly unlikely. They are going to have the timing of interviews timed out to prevent awkward encounters." [Via Hollywood Life, various stories] I actually think Team Kristen is overselling her devastation a little bit, in the hopes that she'll magically seem sympathetic if we think she's just torturing herself in the wake of the scandal. I don't think she's really torturing herself – I think she feels bad, for sure, and she's probably depressed and all. But I also think she's preparing herself to move on. Either that, or she's preparing herself to win Rob back during the publicity tour for Breaking Dawn. I actually think that might be a real possibility. Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter had an interesting, Twihardy, anonymously-written piece about The Dilemma of Kristen Stewart, and why people should back off and why Kristen's apology – issued hours into the scandal – totally backfired. Anderson Cooper’s cheating boyfriend still lives with him, was just on a cruise with him Posted: 22 Aug 2012 07:53 AM PDT Anderson and Ben in 2010 I’m still really interested in Anderson Cooper’s lovelife for some reason, and now that we have confirmation that his boyfriend, Ben Maisani, was on the trip to Croatia with him (also attended by Andy Cohen and a few other friends), I’m revising my theory as to how everything went down. As you might remember, we saw some very close-up photos of Ben making out with another guy in the park a little over a week ago. Those photos came out when Anderson was on vacation in Croatia, reportedly with Ben. Later, Anderson posted a photo of Bravo exec and his longtime friend, Andy Cohen, in Croatia, making me wonder if it was Andy who went along on that vacation, not Ben, and if Anderson and Ben had broken up prior to the release of the makeout photos. Not so much. There’s video of Anderson and Ben together in Croatia, and the paparazzi have photos, taken Monday, of both Ben and Anderson leaving the place in New York they share. (You can see those photos on this link.) So they’re either still together as a couple, or they’re at least still living together for now, maybe until one of them can find another place. That’s pretty forgiving of Anderson, or maybe he was broken up with Ben before the trip and they just decided to move forward with their plans or something. Damn, I know we’re never going to get answers on this and it bugs me. I want to know what happened! I mean I adore Anderson Cooper and I know I should have more respect for his privacy, but I’m a nosy bitch. Here’s The Daily Mail’s report: Anderson Cooper and his partner Ben Maisani were pictured in New York today, both leaving the CNN anchor’s Manhattan townhouse, albeit separately. Maisani was photographed kissing another man in a public park less than two weeks ago, and the pair were believed to have broken up. The pictures, accompanied with a video of them on vacation together in Croatia at the weekend, have sparked rumors the couple have reconciled – and perhaps never even broke up. Cooper was alleged to have gone on the European getaway to get over his broken heart after news of his partner’s alleged cheating emerged. But it appears the news anchor is the forgiving type. Either that or the video adds more fuel to the fire that the couple are in an open relationship. The video – shot by Croatian network Dubrovnik Internet Television – shows the two men on the upper deck of the yacht chatting together, before joining Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos. Ripa and her husband joined in on the European destination last week. Bravo’s Andy Cohen was already there and is believed to have flown out with Cooper a few days earlier. Maisani and Cooper were also spotted earlier today leaving the Manhattan fire house the pair share. It had been reported that the news anchor asked his partner to move out and had broken off the engagement after the cheating scandal. Maybe they have an open relationship, although reports claimed Cooper was devastated by those photos. I’m still holding out hope that Anderson and Andy Cohen are a new couple. There’s a lot of speculation that Anderson might join Kelly as co-host on her morning show, and Kelly told US Weekly that “We have a connection like nobody else. Alanis Morissette actually loves the paparazzi: “They’re forcing transparency” Posted: 22 Aug 2012 07:52 AM PDT Here’s some photos of Alanis Morissette being inducted into Guitar Center’s Historic RockWalk yesterday. For whatever reason, Alanis brought Alicia Silverstone along to provide support in what is essentially a paid-for honor similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Of course, this is a familiar public relations strategy when a musical artist is preparing to drop a record, and Alanis’ next effort arrives in stores next week. Speaking of carefully refined PR strategies, Alanis has spoken out on how much she actually enjoys dealing with the paparazzi unlike most stars. Her words remind me a bit of January Jones’ sentiment that she doesn’t mind the paps who lurk outside her home because they make her feel “safe” since she lives alone and they essentially function as “the best security system ever.” I imagine that January gets a lot more pap attention than Alanis does though, and the latter expresses a different sentiment for not minding the photogs. Her message? Transparency: Alanis Morissette is a rare celebrity who doesn't hate paparazzi. “I actually like the paparazzi,” she said during a listening party hosted by Target for her new album, Havoc and Bright Lights, at Sonos Studio in LA. “They’re forcing transparency . . . What are we afraid of? Our relationships being dysfunctional?” The singer also discussed fame. “I love all the trappings,” she said. “I’m as shallow as you can be. I love my 6-inch heels.” Her new album drops Tuesday. [From Page Six] I get what she’s attempting to say about transparency — that celebrities who choose to earn their living in a the public eye shouldn’t be afraid to be photographed in candid moments if they aren’t doing anything wrong. The complicating factor, however, is when “candid” shots are staged, which happens all too often and a perfect example is Christina Hendricks earning some dough for calling the paps to show off her $23,980 purse. Then there are the staged, fake romances between celebrities and happy-family photo ops. It’s all a muddled mess, and “transparency” doesn’t really work as a descriptor unless one assumes that everyone is being truthful, which obviously isn’t the case. However, I guess Alanis, who has managed to live a scandal free life thus far, really doesn’t mind the paps at all. Prince Harry’s Royal Jewel-gate: what will be the royal and media fallout? Posted: 22 Aug 2012 07:34 AM PDT Apparently, Prince Harry has been summoned home after TMZ's exclusive photos went viral last night. I heard something about Harry's initial plans to make some kind of trip to LA too, but I guess those were canceled? So, in the wake of ROYAL JEWEL-GATE, what will be the fall-out? I don't think this scandal could be compared to anything involving Duchess Kate or Prince William – obviously, those two are married and William is the heir. If William was photographed naked with some girls, it would rock the monarchy. But when it's the single spare? The monarchy will likely remain un-rocked, in my opinion. Sure, it will be embarrassing and the royals will be trying to do some damage control, of course. Which has already begun… *Us Weekly's "source close to Harry" says: “This is a mess. This was not the type of fun he was supposed to be having. He’s in trouble. Protection officers are also in trouble because they could have controlled this." *But another "insider" tells Us Weekly: “He’s a lad! This is just him messing about on holiday. No one was hurt, he’s on proper vacation from his work, so he’s not breaking any rules. He’s using his own money. The photos look sleazier than they are. They were playing strip billiards.” *WILLIAM IS NOT AMUSED. A source tells Us Weekly, “William was told about the photos this morning. He’s not impressed.” *A family friend of Prince Charles, Alex van Straubenzee, told BBC radio’s The World at One that Harry is "a very easy target” for the press and “More than anything he is a British soldier. He has a very, very good qualification in the job he does for the Army and I think this is what people will look at.” He said the current “tittle-tattle” will blow over. *Royal biographer Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine told The Telegraph "that the gaffe may not damage Harry’s reputation in America, and suggests that people may even find it endearing," according to People Mag. Seward says, “It’s a bit cheeky, it’s bloody silly and he should have known better – he has been caught before. But he has a love of life. But for those of us who pay attention to Harry and the British royal family – is this really surprising? No. Harry should be in "trouble" for the photos because it was a dumb move in general, and it was dumb specifically because he and his handlers didn't take the girls' camera-phones away. He should also be in "trouble" because… well, he's getting too old for this. He's 27 years old (he'll be 28 in a few weeks too) – the "he's just a lad" excuse only goes so far. But overall… yeah. It's still not going to bring down the monarchy. It's just a funny and dumb story. Also: this is what happens when Chelsy Davy refuses to marry him. It's all Chelsy's fault! Halle Berry custody report recommends Nahla not be separated from her father Posted: 22 Aug 2012 07:25 AM PDT Here’s news that you won’t hear on pro-Halle site, TMZ. Radar Online is reporting that the child custody report in Halle Berry’s custody case recommends that Nahla, four and a half, not be separated from her father, Gabriel Aubry. As you know, Halle is taking Gabriel to court in a bid to move to France with Nahla in order to be closer to her fiance, French actor Olivier Martinez. Halle’s official reason for moving is to escape the aggressive paparazzi, and she’s had some convenient run-ins with paparazzi recently in which she’s blown her top. Radar and TMZ are reporting that the case is ongoing, with Radar claiming that it will last “another ten full days” and TMZ reporting it will last “for several weeks.” That’s quite a difference in timelines, and I’m thinking Halle’s camp is hoping it will drag out because the initial findings are not in her favor, yay! Here’s Radar’s report: As lawyers for Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry square off in their bitter custody battle of their 4-year-old daughter, Nahla, the child custody report recommends that the little girl “shouldn’t be separated from her father,” and that will weigh heavily on the judge who will decide if the Academy Award winning actress will be allowed to move to France with Nahla, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting. “The child custody report makes it perfectly clear that any move that would remove Gabriel from being an active presence in Nahla’s life will be bad for the little girl. Furthermore, the report says that Nahla shouldn’t be separated from her father. Gabriel is Nahla’s father, and he is a huge part of his life," a source close to the situation tells us. "The child custody report takes both Halle and Gabriel to task for not being able to put aside their personal issues for the sake of their little girl. The evaluator also expressed concerns about this being Halle’s third marriage to French actor and citizen, Olivier Martinez. Olivier and Nahla have a very close relationship, and he truly adores the little girl,” the insider adds. As we previously reported, sources close to Berry say that little Nahla is upset by the presence of cameramen, who “scream out her name constantly and say awful things about Halle in front of her.” The trial is expected to last at least “another ten full days. Both Gabriel, Halle, and her fiance, Martinez will be testifying, and so will the custody evaluator, along with various child psychiatrists and developmental specialists,” the insider says. [From Radar Online] As for TMZ’s story on this case, they focus on the most sensational claim by Gabriel’s lawyer – that Halle “faces the same tragic fate as Princess Diana if she moves to France.” I doubt it was framed like that, but it’s worth looking at the Princess Diana case given Halle’s central argument that the paparazzi are somehow safer there. I think France passed anti-paparazzi laws as a direct result of Diana’s death, so the situation there has hopefully changed. That doesn’t mean I think Halle’s argument is valid at all. She’s just using it as an excuse to get her way as usual. We’ll find out in a couple of weeks if she’ll be able to move to France permanently, and I’m hoping this latest news indicates that she’ll get denied. What will Halle do if she doesn’t get her way? I feel like whenever Avril Lavigne is dating someone, we know about it. Or maybe those dudes were just the tip of the iceberg. Lavigne broke up with Brody Jenner in January after two years of blissful mutual douchiness. She started dating Brody soon after she split from her then-husband, Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley, although she was hooking up with Brandon Davis prior to Brody. It was just in June that we heard that she was seeing Marilyn Manson, which was either not true or short-lived. So it’s a bit of a surprise to hear that Avril is engaged to Chad Kroeger, the lead singer of Nickelback. People mag claims they’ve been dating for six months, which makes me wonder how they kept it under the radar. I’m thinking they haven’t been together that long. Here’s the surprise engagement announcement: Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger’s relationship has been so quiet that few even knew they were dating. I also spent some dreamy moments looking over diamond engagement rings on Blue Nile’s website, and they have a 15 carat diamond for 1.13 million and a 12 carat diamond for 1.69. (The more expensive one has better clarity.) So it looks like the dude from Nickelback gave Avril Lavigne a ring that was worth at least 1.2 million dollars. I would wonder how he came up with the money, but I guess Nickelback had some hits last year that I barely heard of and they’ve been touring and stuff. Well Avril and the Nickelback guy seem perfect for each other. They’re both Canadian singers, they both had their best hits in the late 90s/early 2000s, and they probably share the same inflated sense of self worth. I jest, sort of, I think Avril has grown as a person and isn’t as insufferable as she used to be. Plus I know little about Chad Kroeger, except that when I type “Chad Kroeger” into google, the words “douche” and “douchebag” come up as automatic search suggestions. See – perfect for each other! Harry arrived in Las Vegas this past weekend, first showing up at the same event that Jennifer Lopez was hostessing, then continuing to party and gamble and drink with some dude friends for days. On Monday night, Harry allegedly had a pretty wild and liquor-soaked evening with Ryan Lochte, one which involved scantily-clad women and Harry challenging Ryan Lochte to a race in the pool. There's video of that, as well as random Twitter photos of Harry's appearances all over town. Apparently, though, days before the bromance even happened, Harry had spent LAST FRIDAY with a bunch of girls playing "strip billiards" or something. Here's the funny part – Harry, his boys and his handlers didn't think to take away the girls' phones. So, of course, the girls snapped photos of Harry. Naked. GO HERE TO SEE THE ROYAL JEWELS. Did I just oversell that? TMZ did "censor" the photos a bit, but it's pretty clear that you can see some ginger butt crack. TMZ says: Prince Harry put the crown jewels on display in Vegas this weekend … getting BARE ASS NAKED during a game of strip billiards with a room full of friends in his VIP suite. It all went down Friday night during a raging party in a high rollers hotel suite. We’re told Harry, along with a large entourage, went down to the hotel bar and met a bunch of hot chicks … and invited them up to his VIP suite. Once in the room, things got WILD … with the group playing a game of strip pool that quickly escalated into full-on royal nudity. Some of the partiers snapped photos of the madness. In one photo, a fully nude Harry cups his genitals while a seemingly topless woman stands behind him. In another photo, a naked Harry is bear-hugging a woman who appears to be completely naked as well. No word on who the women are … or if they got Harry’s phone number. Maybe Harry's dad just figures – hey, it's not that big of an embarrassment. Harry's single, he's "the party prince," why not? And to just defend Harry for a moment – it's not like he took advantage of anyone or anything. He just got drunk with some strange girls and they got naked and photos were taken. Christina Hendricks’ $23,980 Farbod Barsum bag: crazy-fug or cute? Posted: 22 Aug 2012 04:29 AM PDT Christina Hendricks was photographed on Melrose Place yesterday (leaving a Hugo Boss boutique, actually), and for the first time ever, her rack was not the main focus of attention. In fact, Christina seemed to take great (uncharacteristic) care to hide her rack behind a denim shirt, which she paired with subdued black jeans and pumps. So what’s the big fuss? Well, Christina just happened to get papped with a one-of-a-kind Farbod Barsum handbag (the “Isabella” tote), which costs a very hefty $23,980. Seriously. Isn’t this one of the ugliest overpriced purses that you’ve ever seen? Kaiser, CB, and I were all rolling our eyes over it because it honestly shouldn’t be worth more than $500, right? At first, I thought Christina must have merely been gifted this bag, which is actually quite atrocious looking, because there’s no way in hell that she would have forked over that kind of money for a purse. She obviously couldn’t afford this bag even if she wanted it. Sure, she’s got some endorsements (like Vivienne Westwood), but still, this is an outrageously pricey tote. Then it was brought to my attention that there was actually a press release about Christina carrying this purse, which means that she was very likely paid to get papped with one of the most ridiculous purses in the entire universe.
