Rihanna’s full interview on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” aired last night and, as promised in the preview clip, there was much talk of Rihanna’s thoughts on Chris Brown, which are generally conflicted, and you can tell that she hasn’t fully resolved her feelings over what took place three years ago when he beat the living crap out of her. In addition, we’ve also heard that Chris was very aghast that Rihanna (and the rest of the world) is still rehashing the events that took place because he feels like he’s worked so hard (in the studio, not in women’s shelters) on his “road to recovery.” Whatever. Before the full interview aired, Rihanna has also come under fire from some charities that deal with violence against women because RiRi stated (in the aforementioned clip) that she “misses” Chris and that he only “made a mistake” and “needed help.” The Women’s Resource Centre has released a statement saying “We need to stop society allowing us to normalise such behaviour. Rihanna has admitted she ‘was more concerned about’ her ‘best friend’ Chris Brown after the singer’s vicious attack on her.” Now with the release of Oprah’s full program, Rihanna has fully admitted that she still loves Chris and has fully forgiven him. She also hints at some (unsurprising) dynamics that she witnessed between her own mother and father:
[From Washington Post] Beyond the troublesome attitude that Rihanna harbors for her abuser, I find it rather disgusting that Rihanna is essentially making a huge public play for Chris by admitting that she still loves him and had such a hard time when hanging with him in St. Tropez while his girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, was also present. I just don’t understand why she’d do that in a normal, non-abusive situation, let alone when Rihanna’s relationship with Chris was clearly a toxic mess. But maybe she’s just addicted, I don’t know.

There are rumors that Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake got married in Wyoming this past weekend. I don't think the rumors have any substance, but I'm just here to provide the gossip. Allegedly, Jessica finished up her (horrible!) Total Recall publicity tour and jetted home to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where her groom was waiting for her at a private estate. Does this sound possible? The original source seems to be… Janet Carlton. Not the most reliable, basically.
Now, while I think it's possible that Jessica Biel has very little to do with the wedding planning (let's face it, it's ALL Justin), I just don't see her rushing to get to her wedding at the last minute, right on the heels of her Total Recall publicity tour. Plus, I kind of believed her when she said in interview after interview that she was just enjoying the engagement, and that she and Justin hadn't made a firm wedding date. Who knows though? They're such a strange couple, maybe they did it like this. Here are some more photos of Biel in that completely terrible Giambattista Valli dress last week in London. You know, Valli is said to be one of the major contenders to design Biel's wedding gown. Could this monstrosity have been a dry-run? LOL. What if Biel gets married in a feathered peplum and oddly-sleeved and collared mess?

| Tom Cruise resurfaces in Los Angeles, insists he let Katie visit Toledo all the time Posted: 20 Aug 2012 07:40 AM PDT
These are some photos of Tom Cruise last night in Los Angeles. Tom was spotted leaving Madeo restaurant just hours after it was announced that director/producer Tony Scott committed suicide. Ordinarily, this is the moment in a post where I’d superficially wonder what’s going on with Tom’s Paranorman-esque hairdo, but not today. Tom worked with Scott on Top Gun and Days of Thunder, and the two were said to have a great working relationship. So I’ll cut Tom a break here for his appearance and move onto the topic at hand. These photos are noteworthy for a non-snarky reason, which is that Tom’s been largely invisible to the world except for those precious moments when he’s been reuniting with daughter Suri and working hard to earn the “best father in the world” title. Meanwhile, Katie’s been teaching her daugther to enjoy simple pleasures, and they’ve spent a lot of time at zoos and museums. Also very important is that they’ve visited Katie’s hometown of Toledo, Ohio not just once but twice since the divorce went down. At one point, I cracked a joke that Katie didn’t get to visit home (which includes visiting with a bunch of Suri’s cousins) hardly at all, if ever, while married to Tom. Now Tom’s team is now taking offense to that (apparently somewhat common) sentiment. So there’s a newly-planted story in People from Tom’s team that says Katie visited Toledo “many times” while married to Tom. Do we buy it?
[From People] I don’t think it’s true that Katie and Suri were always hopping on the private jet to Toledo because there were never sightings of them like there are now. Maybe they visited once or twice over Suri’s lifetime, but these trips will definitely be more commonplace now that Katie’s broken free of Tom’s grip. What I do buy is that Tom was willing to have Katie’s extended family come and visit them in Telluride and New York City, and Tom probably feels all righteous about it because his team has clearly pointed out that “all expenses were paid for by Tom.” What the story doesn’t include is that the cousins and their parents were probably creeped out when they were handed gift bags full of Scientology literature, and they were never seen nor heard from again in the presence of Tom. Now Katie is free to visit home whenever she pleases, and the CO$ is not invited to the party. Win!

Liberty Ross speaks without saying a word! Even though we've seen Liberty Ross a handful of times since her husband Mini Cooper'd Kristen Stewart, Liberty still hasn't issued any kind of public statement. In fact, she deleted her Twitter account and she hadn't even blogged for Vogue UK, which… I didn't know she did. Anyway, Liberty updated her Vogue UK blog – but she still didn't have to write anything. The update consists of this:
LET THE EAGLE SOAR! Except it's a condor. And now The Mail says that Liberty's CONDOR OF DOOM means that she's packing up and moving back to London, probably after she divorces her husband.
I kind of dig how cryptic Liberty continues to be. Why clarify anything? Once you come out and say something, people will parse and everyone will have to take a definite side. Liberty is all, "CONDOR, BITCHES!" Respect. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson is also "winning" in the post-scandal world. According to Deadline, even though Pattinson's new film Cosmopolis only opened in THREE locations, the film took in $24,000-plus in each venue. The film made $268,900 in its limited release, and it will be released in 20 more markets this weekend. Oh, and both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have pulled out of their scheduled appearances at the final four Twilight Conventions, which would have gone done this week, and then Sept. 29, October 5 and November 3. Hilariously, Taylor Lautner also pulled out of his appearances too. Did he bone someone he shouldn't have too? You can read more about it here.

Just like two weekends ago, I kept checking in this past weekend to see if Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had finally gotten hitched. The Mail ran an extensive story about what the wedding would look like at their French chateau, and I kept seeing reports about all of the photo agencies sending photographers to the South of France in the hopes of getting some good wedding photos. Alas, it seems like Brad and Angelina weren't even IN France last week or this past weekend. They weren't in England either. According to Page Six, Brangelina were vacationing in Greece, and according to a "source," Angelina "laughed off" rumors that their wedding is coming up soon:
Er… so is Angelina done filming Maleficent? Is Brad Pitt done with his (smaller) role in The Counselor? Is Brad done with the reshoots for World War Z? WHY ARE THEY ON VACATION?! And why Greece? It's funny, you know – a few months ago, the tabloids were reporting that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux were planning on a secret elopement – in Greece! And Jennifer is famously part Greek, and she's vacationed there before. So… was this some Uncool Triangle BS? Or did Brad and Angelina just decide to go on vacation, with no thought to Brad's ex-wife? Or are they even really in Greece? I have no idea.

| Justin Theroux out & about in NYC, nine days after proposing to Jennifer Aniston Posted: 20 Aug 2012 05:36 AM PDT
These are the first new photos we've had of Justin Theroux since he proposed to Jennifer Aniston (allegedly) in New York City (allegedly) two Fridays ago (allegedly). I have no idea if Justin ended up traveling back to North Carolina with Jennifer after the proposal, but I do know he's in New York right now while she continues to work on We're the Millers in NC. Fame/Flynet describes these photos as, "Wanderlust’ actor Justin Theroux out for lunch at The Smile Cafe in New York City, New York on August 19, 2012. After lunch he stops to check his cell phone and then hail a cab which doesn’t stop for him." Which is a hilarious description. Sartorially speaking, I like this look on Justin much more than his sweat jeggings or whatever he was wearing a few weeks ago. As I've said before, I like Justin's body – he's slender but solidly built, with a long torso and short legs. So, he needs to wear certain kinds of styles, and this is it. Jeans that fit (he needs to go for a smaller inseam though), tight t-shirt, everything close-cropped. It's his "look" and it works for him. In all of last week's tabloid reports about the engagement, there were several quotes from unnamed sources that seemed to indicate that the problem Jennifer Aniston has had with previous boyfriends is that they can never deal with her enormous fame, and that they always end up feeling like "Mr. Aniston" in the relationship. The sources claim Justin is different – that he's his own man, and that his ego is fine with Jennifer being "the famous one" in the relationship. I tend to think the dynamic is different than that theory, but I do agree that Justin is fine with Jennifer having this enormous (mostly tabloid) fame. I wonder if he'll feel differently about it after two or three more years of being a solo paparazzi target though. Something tells me he kind of… enjoys it.

Does anyone else remember The Cutting Edge? D.B. Sweeney played a former ice hockey star who finds a second career as the ice skating partner to a temperamental skating diva played by Moira Kelly. No joke, I absolutely LOVED that movie when I was young. If I had a copy of it right now, I would watch it to see if still stood up – I suspect that it does. Moira and D.B.'s chemistry was surprisingly good, and they managed to have an old-fashioned, dialogue-heavy flirtation, set against the backdrop of the ice skating world. Whenever I think about D.B. Sweeney, I always remember how great he was in that role. But now D.B. is being introduced to a new generation, but it's not because of his work. D.B. is on Twitter, and he happened to tweet his thoughts on Robert Pattinson's Daily Show appearance last week. D.B. was not a fan, apparently. And the Twihards have now made D.B. Twihard Enemy #1. Incidentally, D.B. does seem to have some connection to Kristen Stewart – D.B. has worked with Kristen's mom, Jules Stewart. It all started when D.B. tweeted, "Just saw Pattinson on #DailyShow trying to figure out what took k-stew so long to look around with this douche astride her. #holytwit." When the first barrage of Twihard hate came, D.B. tweeted, "Hey #twilight geniuses – try decaf! A little too worked up over a skinny vampire." Then he started retweeting some of the crazier/funnier hate-tweets he was getting, which looked like this:
D.B. then went on to feed the Twihard trolls, tweeting, "Nice language twi-hards. Or should i say tards? Love the inchoate indignation." The Twihards also referred to him as "middle-aged" to which he responded, "MIDDLE AGED?! But I am immortal…" All in all, it's really not D.B.'s finest moment, but I do like his sense of humor, and I can't really slam him for riling up the worst elements of the Twihards. He was just having a laugh! Unfortunately, the people defending Saint Rob take it very, very seriously.

Shia LeBeouf is gross. I mean that in a lot of ways. Not only has he transformed (har har) his physical appearance into that of the Hipster Unabomber, but he’s also developed quite a habit of getting hissy-fit drunk in public and also talking about how the studio system stuck a finger up his a**. Then he decided that we all wanted to see him get (fully) naked, so he took it all off for a music video. Gross. Anyway, now Shia is grossing me out again by talking about how the sex in his upcoming movie, N-mphomaniac, will be actual sex as opposed to “acted out” sex. The fantastic voyage in reference is , of course, a movie directed by Lars Von Trier, who famously spent his 2011 trip to Cannes getting himself banned from the festival for all of eternity because he went on a socially-awkward rant that culminated in him expressing sympathies for Hitler and jokingly declaring himself a Nazi. It was a total mess, but at least that means that Shia’s bare booty (and presumably, his wang) won’t be screening for competition (or otherwise) at Cannes. As for Von Trier, I’m sure he feels that having his actors actually do it with each other is much more “artsy” than merely pretending that they’re doing it, right? Hell, I’m surprised James Franco hasn’t signed onto this movie for the art of it. Here are the details on Shia’s impending moon:
[From Hollywood Reporter] Honestly, Charlotte Gainsbourg must be a masochist in the true sense since she keeps signing onto these Von Trier films. If I recall correctly, Antichrist featured actual penetration in its opening scene, but these were obviously (I hope) “stunt” actors and not Charlotte and Willem Dafoe really doing the deed. Now Von Trier is pushing his little obligatory envelope even further, and I’m wondering …. who will Shia actually be, um, bedding in this movie? So far, Shia, Charlotte, Willem Dafoe, Stellan Skarsgard, and Nicole Kidman are the only confirmed actors in roles, and I don’t see Nicole agreeing to do the dirty with Shia. As for Charlotte, yeah, I can see her going there. For the art, of course. Despite Von Trier’s madness, however, I have to admit to actually liking Melancholia much more than his other movies. But how do I feel about watching a movie featuring Shia’s authentic O-face (and much more)? I’ll pass on this one.

| Director/producer Tony Scott, 68, committed suicide Sunday in Los Angeles Posted: 20 Aug 2012 04:36 AM PDT
This is such sad, incomprehensible news. Director and producer Tony Scott committed suicide yesterday in LA. According to reports and eyewitness accounts, Scott drove to the Vincent Thomas Bridge, got out of his car and then jumped off the bridge into the Los Angeles Harbor. Scott's body was found hours later by the LA Port police. He is survived by his wife Donna Wilson and their twin sons. Here's more:
Yes, Tony Scott is probably best known through his producing partnership with his older brother Ridley Scott – they founded Scott Free Productions, which has an enviable history of producing outstanding films and television shows. Tony Scott's IMDB is here – just some of his many films include: The Hunger, Top Gun, Days of Thunder, Beverly Hills Cop II, True Romance, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Spy Game (a favorite of mine – that film is GENIUS), and Unstoppable. He worked with Denzel Washington many times, and he was tight with Tom Cruise too. Beyond his work as a director, Tony work as a producer is amazing too. This is a really terrible loss to the Hollywood community, and it's just so sad. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tony's family and friends.

I still don't have a hate-on for Jennifer Lopez's white booty shorts and crop-top. It WAS a dated outfit, for sure, but… I still think it looked okay on her. But this outfit? This outfit sucks. These are photos from J.Lo's "post-party" at Pure nightclub at Caesars in Las Vegas, also on Saturday night. The white booty-shorts outfit was from her pre-party, I guess. First thing – something nice: I think Jennifer's body looks GREAT. Is it just me or does she look especially toned and fit? And I do think the idea of this tube dress is fine – it shows off her bangin' body, and that's fine. I just take issue with the color and the weird "skid mark" feature on the back. That's just… I don't know, dated? The tube dress combined with the teased hair and the heavy makeup is just rough to me. She looks super '80s. Totally '80s. Meanwhile, Benny Medina has just confirmed that Jennifer is getting into the whole "3D Concert Movie" game. J.Lo's concert movie will be called Dance Again, and Medina told Extra that "the film will chronicle the last few years in Jennifer's life as she faced big changes. Her instinct is to get right back up, go on the road and 'dance again'." Yeah… combined with Jennifer's woe-is-me interview in InStyle, it really feels like she's trying to get some additional mileage out of her divorce. Most people were on Jennifer's side in the first place, but it's not like anyone really felt like she was a "wronged woman" deserving of an outpouring of sympathy, you know? Basically, I feel like J.Lo is trying to re-brand herself as a sympathetic figure now because she's received so much criticism because of the Casper Smart stuff.
