| Apple Debuts iPad Mini And MORE New Gadgets! Posted: 23 Oct 2012 01:09 PM PDT Apple held a conference in San Jose, California today because it had some BIG news to announce. Many were expecting the iPad Mini, but the tech company had much more cool stuff in store! Marketing chief Phil Schiller did, indeed, unveil the brand new iPad Mini and later revealed yet another full-size iPad, plus an ultra-thin iMac for desktops! First things first. The 7.9-inch iPad Mini -- starting at $329 -- will be "as light as a pad of paper" at .68 pounds and thin as a pencil. Even cooler is that the company is releasing a cellular version for $459! Both go on sale November 2, but can be pre-ordered this Friday. The fourth-generation 9.7-inch iPad comes jam packed like some nifty technological upgrades. The A6X processing chip is TWICE as fast as the previous model, while delivering better graphics performance. If you want to take a page from Natalie Nunn's playbook and start making some, umm, home movies with it, then you'll be happy to hear the front-facing camera captures video in 720p HD. Much like the miniature version, a Wi-Fi 16 GB model starts at $499 while the cellular-connected version starts at $629. That's all pretty cool, but we're especially LOVING the new iMac. The 80% thinner model is just 5 millimeters in depth and uses fusion drives to combine flash drives and hard disc drives. Four USB 3.0 slots, two Thunderbolt ports and an SD cart slot come standard on the 27-inch and 21.5-inch models starting at $1,799 and $1,299, respectively. | Barack Obama Deeply Offended The Bayonet Industry During Debate Posted: 23 Oct 2012 11:51 AM PDT Barack Obama may have officially won Lindsay Lohan over (if she doesn't change her mind again by November 6) after the final Presidential Debate, but he also may have lost the bayonet vote in the process. While responding to Mitt Romney's charges that he isn't properly arming the Navy, the POTUS said:
His off the cuff comment was meant to be a metaphor, meaning he focuses on the quality and capability of Naval ships, not quantity. However, some folks in the bayonet industry are deeply offended by the "ignorant" comment. Arguing that soldiers still make good use of the hand-to-hand combat weapon, a representative from Bayonet Inc. believes they "are still distributed to the military all the time" and that President Obama "should get educated on it." This guy also didn't vote for Obama last time and has no plans on doing so this time around, so maybe this is just a case of throwing salt in an open wound. We have a feeling that even if the President used muskets or arbalests as an example of an outdated weapon of choice, somewhere, somehow a Romney supporter would have taken it personally.
