How budget is Kate Moss’s Harper’s Bazaar pictorial by Terry Richardson?

Posted: 18 May 2012 08:39 AM PDT

What is going on with Harper's Bazaar lately? I remember, I had a subscription to Bazaar… maybe in the early years of the aughts, like 2001 and 2002. It was a good magazine back then, with interesting writers and sometimes moody, evocative, beautiful black-and-white pictorials. I guess they have new editors and I guess those editors are bored out of their skulls, because they keep hiring Terry Richardson for seemingly ALL of their photo shoots, and they all look the same, and they are all so budget and boring. With that in mind, here's their June cover and cover shoot with Kate Moss.

Bazaar says that Kate is "modeling the best of the collections on location in Jamaica." You can see the full photo shoot here. I was going to grab even more images from the shoot, but it's like Terry and Kate both decided to completely phone it in. I swear, she only uses two "model-faces" throughout the whole shoot. Her two looks: "Wow, I did too much coke last night" and "OMG, I shouldn't have just done all that coke." You know that's exactly what Kate and Terry did "on location in Jamaica." They did lines and wandered around on the beach.

Incidentally, CB and I were talking about possibly covering this story about Kate's claw-toes yesterday, but we decided against it. Because, honestly, her feet aren't all that bad or good. She just has long toes, too-small shoes and no pedicure – you can see the photos here.

Guess the Oscar-winning actor/actress in this Candy Magazine photo shoot?

Posted: 18 May 2012 07:57 AM PDT

I think we've discussed the magazine CANDY before. Like, James Franco was on the cover once? Yes. It's a magazine for (and done by) transgendered individuals, with pictorials devoted to… well, you can guess. I'm not judging anything, seriously. This magazine is not for me, so I don't have a real opinion on the content. Only this: CAN YOU F–KING BELIEVE THIS IS TILDA SWINTON????? OMG.

If you were going to guess the "star" of this pictorial, who would you have guessed before even considering Tilda Swinton? I have a list.

1. Florence Welch.
2. David Bowie.
3. Cher.
4. Lady Gaga.
5. A random drag-queen that Candy picked up at a LGBT Spelling Bee.
6. Adele.
7. CHER?!
8. Chaz Bono.
9. Any of the contestants of RuPaul's Drag Race.
10. RuPaul.

The fact that it's Tilda, and that she wore these wigs and had her makeup done (by drag queens) and wore these clothes… does it make you love her more? In my case… kind of. She really is a chameleon, isn't she? Amazing.

LeAnn Rimes is cryptic about Brandi, tweets photos at the shooting range

Posted: 18 May 2012 05:43 AM PDT

Earlier this week, we covered a new interview with Brandi Glanville in which she described her murderous thoughts upon seeing LeAnn Rimes with Eddie Cibrian and Mason and Jake for the first time. I thought Brandi was being pretty honest about everything – LeAnn stalked and "won" Eddie and then proceeded to use the two little boys to promote herself as a "bonus mom". And obviously, Brandi didn't hurt LeAnn in the end. There's no law against THINKING about murdering someone. Still, Brandi tried to clarify her comments via Twitter, and "sources" close to LeAnn told media outlets that LeAnn considered Brandi to be "unstable" and that LeAnn had considered taking out a restraining order against Brandi. Because… obviously.

So, LeAnn has been on Twitter throughout the week, tweeting up a storm and acting like she won this round, I guess. She did tweet this nonsense the other day: "Disappointing when what you think is out of the goodness of someone’s heart is only a manipulation for them to later use to paint a pretty picture." Is that directed at the media outlets covering Brandi's interview? Or is it directed at Brandi? Unknown. Whatever. Then, yesterday, LeAnn started tweeting about the gun range and going to target practice, and she tweeted a bunch of photos with guns. She tweeted, "I used to go shopping on my day off, now I go shooting." Brandi… watch out, girl.

Katie Holmes feels betrayed by Tom Cruise’s broken promises to make her a star

Posted: 18 May 2012 05:25 AM PDT

Katie Holmes

A story in this week’s issue of In Touch revolves around this new batch of photos taken of Katie Holmes on 4/26. These pictures show the formerly perky actress looking weathered and truly exhausted with dead eyes, greying hair, and a generally unkempt appearance. While a make-up free Katie certainly isn’t a rare thing, she truly has seen better days than these photos would reveal. According to the story, Katie is feeling the strain of her marriage and is “devastated” that she’s not “living the charmed life Tom Cruise vowed to give her.” So I’m guessing that a $125,000 monthly shopping budget no longer fills the void caused by Xenu, his minions, and her tiny, lift-wearing husband?

In Touch has spoken to an insider who claims that Katie is frustrated over a flagging career (her IMDb page confirms this), and that she’s really upset that Tom won’t do a film with her like he supposedly promised when they married. She also is allegedly upset that Tom leaves her alone so much to film all his movies (and pretend to be a serious rock star). Well I’ve always assumed that Katie enjoyed her Tom-free time because it seems like it would be more exhausting to be with him than without him. Who knew?

Katie Holmes

As Katie Holmes walked around a bustling New York City on April 26, she hardly looked like the beaming starlet who accepted Tom Cruise’s romantic marriage proposal just a few years ago. “She looked really tired,” an onlooker tells In Touch of the gray-speckled 33-year-old. “She seemed sad.”

Indeed, katie doesn’t have much to smile about these days, as her husband, Tom Cruise, reignites his career — and fogets the promise he made to help make his wife a big star. While Tom works nonstop — he just finished filming Oblivion in New Orleans and is promoting Rock of Ages — dedicated mom Katie looks after their 6-year-old daughter, Suri. “Katie thought that being married to a huge star like Tom would open doors for her,” says a source, although both stars’ reps obviously deny the story. “But she’s not being offered the roles Tom vowed to get her.” Now she feels neglected. “This isn’t the life she signed up for, and she feels depressed.”

[From In Touch, print edition, May 28, 2012]

If this story is true, I can sort of understand Tom’s perspective in not acting alongside Katie in films. Not only is she kind of a tone-deaf actress, but he probably chose Katie (for his infamous round of wife auditions) specifically because there would be no danger of her eclipsing him in talent like Nicole Kidman threatened to do. The more successful that Nicole became as an actress, the less she faded into the shadows behind Tom, and Tom really seems like he needs to be the focal point of his relationships — probably because of his adorable little Napoleon complex. I’d like to feel sorry for Katie if she truly feels unfulfilled in this contract marriage, but she’s the one who signed up for this mess. Most of us would have been out the door at the first sign of couch-jumping madness.

Star: Blake Lively hates Ryan Reynolds’ mom, and the feeling is mutual

Posted: 18 May 2012 04:52 AM PDT

Whenever I think of mama's boys trying to pass themselves off as Hollywood heartthrobs, my mind always goes straight to Bradley Cooper. I swear, poor Zoe Saldana AND Renee Zellweger spent more quality time with B-Coop's mother than they ever spent with Bradley. But would you peg Ryan Reynolds as a mama's boy? I don't know much about his family, but I've heard general things about his family being tight-knit, nice, normal Canadians. I just looked them up – his dad has Parkinson's, which is just awful. Awful for his dad, and awful for the family. Ugh… anyway, by all accounts, they're a tight-knit family, as is Blake's family.

So, a few weeks about Ryan took Blake to Canada so they could spend some time with his family, after they spent many, many mini-breaks and holidays with her family. I'm positive that this is not the first time Blake has met Ryan's family, but according to Star Magazine, there was something about this trip that pitted Blake and Ryan's mom against each other. Tammy Reynolds thinks Blake is a diva. Blake thinks Tammy needs to mind her beeswax. Who shall be victorious?

As they blissfully prepare to share their lives together in a new home, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's whirlwind eight-month romance has hit a major snag. The couple's recent visit to his hometown of Vancouver erupted into a showdown between Blake and Ryan's mother Tammy – causing a furious Blake, 24, to storm off, a source tells Star.

Ryan's mom, a retired salesperson, "is a straight-talker who speaks her mind," says a source. "She hasn't really warmed to Blake."

"Tammy would like to see Ryan with a woman who's not in the movie business because she feels that, ultimately, actresses put their careers first," says the source. "And she thinks Blake is pressuring Ryan into settling down before he's ready. He also rushed into his first marriage, with Scarlett Johansson."

Indeed, Blake and Ryan are "unofficially engaged" and planning to wed in the summer of 2013 at the $2.6 million estate they recently purchased in Bedford, NY, the source reveals. But Tammy is urging them to relocate to Vancouver full-time.

"She says when they have kids, Blake and Ryan should raise them in Canada because it's safer," says the source. "Blake refuses to even consider that, saying that she has to be in NYC for work."

Despite her objections to the hasty wedding, Tammy "has also been trying to take over the wedding planning," says the source. "She wants to invite all these family friends Blake doesn't know." The mama drama came to a head during a May 6 dinner at the Reynolds family home.

"When Tammy started grilling her, Blake left the room and had a meltdown… she told Ryan she wanted to stay at a hotel for the rest of the trip."

Blake cooled down enough to dine with the actor, his brother and sister-in-law the next day, "But she made it clear to Ryan that Tammy was not welcome."

Now tensions remain high. "Tammy says it proves she's right: Blake's a diva… Ryan is torn between them – and in an impossible position."

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

While I think Tammy has some good points – especially about actresses prioritizing their careers and about Blake pushing Ryan so fast – I do think Tammy needs to butt out. Moving to Canada? No. Interjecting herself into wedding plans? No. I mean, was Scarlett Johansson the perfect daughter-in-law? No. And Blake won't be the perfect daughter-in-law either, but Tammy's son has a thing for big-boobed blonde actresses, and if that's his prerequisite, he could do SO much worse. I know I'm about to get many, many lectures from mother's of mama's boys, but seriously ladies, why can't you let your sons just make their own mistakes? Why does it always have to only be about your future daughter-in-law being a Leo DiCaprio-boning, workaholic hussy? That's obviously what your son likes.

Is Kanye West actually improving Kim Kardashian’s style & her jacked face?

Posted: 18 May 2012 04:43 AM PDT

I hate to admit it, but I think Kanye West is actually achieving the impossible: he's improving Kim Kardashian's style. These are photos of Kim and Kanye last night in London, leaving their hotel and then attending the Fifi Awards (awards given for perfumes).

This is exactly what happened (in my mind): first, Kanye spends hours going over Kim's look, vetoing several dresses ("Girl, imma let you wear something ALL CLASS.") and even describing the "look" he wanted for Kim to her makeup artist and hairstylist. Kim was probably exhausted by the time the "preparations" for the evening were over, and she still had to show up at the Fifi Awards. So, Kim and Kanye walk out of their hotel together, knowing they'll be photographed by the hordes of paparazzi waiting for them. Then, once they get to the Fifi Awards, Kanye doesn't even walk on the carpet with her!!! For real. He went WITH HER, they've been photographed together constantly, but he draws the line at holding her hand on a red carpet. All class.

Anyway, I do think Kanye is helping her out. This dress is actually rather pretty, although her makeup is totally drag queen, per usual. Kim had to go to the Fifis because her "signature fragrance" ("Gold"…? Right?) was up for an award. While on the red carpet, Kim posed with a bottle of her new fragrance, True Reflection (Of A Kat-Face). Unfortunately for all involved in this mess, Kim did not win her award - she lost out to Justin Bieber's "Someday". Sigh… maybe that's why Kanye didn' walk the carpet with her. "Girl, you can't even win a damn Fifi? That ain't right."

PS… Does anyone else think Kanye might be encouraging Kim to stop jacking her face too? Because her kat-face actually looks less waxy and frozen.

Channing Tatum covers Out Mag: “I’m a redneck – I still love Coors Light”

Posted: 18 May 2012 04:40 AM PDT

I can't help it, I like Channing Tatum. I haven't seen many of his films, so I'm only judging him on his personality, as seen through many, many charming, funny interviews. One of the things that strikes me about Channing is that (I feel) he's often the victim of Hollywood's anti-Southern bias. Hollywood wants to pigeon-hole him as just some dumb redneck, and while he is kind of redneck-y (he admits that), he's also one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood, and he owes a lot of his success to his own work ethic and a wonderful and refreshing attitude about his work. He respects his industry, and he plays the game better than most of the younger actors out there.

Another reason to love Channing: he knows he has a gay fan base, and he loves his gay fans. Channing covers the new issue of Out Mag to promote his stripper movie Magic Mike. Channing knows that the audience for this film is going to be gay dudes and ladies. And he loves all of us. You can read the full Out Mag piece here (it is, like all of Channing's interviews, a great read), and here are some highlights:

He hates fruits and vegetables: "I will never eat a raw tomato. I can do the s–t out of some tomato sauce, or even sun-dried tomatoes, but never raw." Eggplant? "F–k eggplant—it's too spongy. I hate spongy stuff."

On 21 Jump Street: "Jonah actually called me to do it," says Tatum. "He said, 'You can do this,' and I said, 'Are you sure? You gotta tell me that you're sure.' Nobody ever called me for a comedy before — I couldn't get them to call me for a comedy. I would call, and they would be, 'No, no, no, just stick to what you're doing.' As soon as I made Jump Street, I had 20 comedies sent to me."

The risk of Magic Mike: "It's risky," concedes Tatum. "People say that women and the gay community will go see it — knock on wood — but I know straight guys won't be like, 'Yo, what's up man — you wanna go see the stripping movie after the game tonight?' I doubt they'll have the balls to see it. What's funny is that the girls don't ask me questions about my stripping days, but straight guys want to know everything. It's that fantasy element. It's probably why a lot of females on Halloween are the whorey version of a ketchup bottle, or slutty nurse, which I love and respect — it's liberating."

Being a stripper in Tampa at the age of 19: "I was definitely looking for something to take me into the dark side," he says. "You learn something about yourself, you learn about men, women, you see a lot of depressing shit, people that are lost. But at the same time, the dark side can be exciting. It can feel like you're cheating death every night."

More about stripping: "I never enjoyed the taking-the-clothes-off part," he recalls. "You are on a stage with people yelling at you, and you feel you're a rock star, but you're nothing — you're just a guy taking off his clothes, looking like a fool in a stupid outfit." The outfit, if you're wondering, was a Boy Scout uniform. Eventually, Tatum rebelled and introduced an Usher routine, drawing on the skills he learned at the quinceañeras that are as ubiquitous in Florida as orange groves. "I just got tired of being the tall, skinny white kid that couldn't dance. So eventually, I just grabbed an abuela and was like, 'All right, teach me how to Spanish dance,' " he says, adding, "and I've always loved the movies Breakin' 1 and 2, and Beat Street."

Matt Bomer on Channing: "He's obviously very good-looking and effortlessly cool, but he's also one of the kindest, most open-hearted people I've ever known," he says. "More than anything, he just has a lust for life that makes him want to tell stories and to dig deeper than someone who looks like him might have to dig. He kind of reminds me of Steve McQueen in a lot of ways — completely authentic and comfortable in his own skin." (For his part, Tatum describes Bomer as "the most talented and committed person I've ever got to work with.")

Working on Dear John: He was signed before they had a script. "It was not a perfect movie, but I loved it because it was a labor of love, every single part of it," he says. "You go through every single variation of the script, and you work on it with the director and the actress, and then you decide whether you can make it better with reshoots. I wish more actors would do it, because I think it would give more connection to what they're doing and why they're doing it."

He's a redneck: "I wish I had a palate to be able to choose one over the other," he says. "I'm a redneck — I still love Coors Light."

[From Out Mag]

I think my two favorite quotes are "I'm a redneck — I still love Coors Light" and "It's probably why a lot of females on Halloween are the whorey version of a ketchup bottle, or slutty nurse, which I love and respect — it's liberating." Do you see what he did with the last one? He caught himself saying something kind of bitchy about girls who dress up like "the whorey version of a ketchup bottle" (LOL) and he eased into a lovely (if bullsh-t) exploration of female liberation. I LOVE HIM.

UPDATE: The Magic Mike boys also cover the new issue of Entertainment Weekly too.

Marion Cotillard wears Christian Dior for day & night in Cannes: magnificent?

Posted: 18 May 2012 04:31 AM PDT

I kind of feel like the Cannes Film Festival has gotten off to a slow start. I remember last year's festival (I watched from afar) – last year's was crazy at the beginning, and by Day 5, everyone was kind of bored. This year, organizers back-loaded it so that some of the biggest "name" celebrities will be showing up next week. Maybe this is smart – smaller films get more attention first, and then the glitz and glamour really comes to head in the middle and the end.

Anyway, on Thursday, Marion Cotillard was the star of the day with a photo call and premiere for her new film Rust and Bone. Marion wore Christian Dior for both events… and I find myself liking both of the ensembles. The peachy-pink of the day look could have washed her out terribly, but it ended up accentuating her beautiful skin. And the black ball gown is rather gorgeous. My one complaint – I think Marion's giant hairpiece-bun thing is excessive. You can do a fancy up-do for the Cannes red carpet without it looking like you attached a coffee can to the back of your head.

We need to have a conversation about Marion's Rust and Bone costar, Matthias Schoenbaerts. OMG. He's so… pretty. I want one.

Fan Bing Bing in Elie Saab Couture. This is some Grey Gardens sh-t, right?

Eva Longoria in Emilio Pucci. Such an improvement from yesterday's Marchesa!!! This is very pretty/boring on her – I would have changed her hair here.

Freida Pinto in Versace. Another improvement from yesterday's Moonrise Kingdom red carpet. This color is very difficult to pull off, and I would never even attempt it. I think it works on her, though. And the design is very sexy. I want to straighten her up though – her body language tells me she's not comfortable with the slit.

Jane Fonda in boring Stella McCartney. Your eye is supposed to be "fooled" into thinking Jane is super-skinny. It's just… meh. Hate the shoulders too.

Masseur-gate: John Travolta’s second accuser hires Gloria Allred, and much more

Posted: 18 May 2012 04:26 AM PDT

Masseur-Gate: Day (COUGH). It feels like we've been doing this for a while, right? So, how's your family? Your hair looks pretty today. Okay, let's get into it. Yesterday, we discussed how a fourth man has come forward to claim that John Travolta had groped and fondled him. Doe #3 works for a gym, and he used to let Travolta come in after hours to work out, and that's when Travolta allegedly assaulted him. We also discussed how Doe #1 had signed Gloria Allred as his new lawyer, after being dropped by Okorie Okorocha. Well, it's a bad week to be Mr. Okorocha, because Doe #2 (the Georgia masseur) just fired him and signed on with Allred too. Here are some bullet points for the last 24 hours in Masseur-gate.

*Gloria Allred's office confirmed that she is now representing Doe #2: "We are now representing John Doe #2. We believe that the lawsuit should be filed in another court and, therefore, the lawsuit that was on file was dismissed without prejudice. We will be conferring with our client regarding what will happen next in this case."

*Apparently, Doe #2 hated Okorie Okorocha. A source tells Radar, "The Atlanta masseur just didn’t trust Okorie going forward, and he didn’t think his attorney had his best interests in mind… The masseur absolutely [will] pursue legal action against Travolta."

*Doe #2 had some kind of drama that I didn't pay attention to – it was getting complicated with all of the Radar reports and shouty headlines. Somebody gave Radar an email that I think was written by Doe #2 in which he discussed the alleged assault by Travolta, only the dates are all mixed up or something. You can read the whole story here.

*This week's Enquirer has a really awful story about Travolta's relationship with the late Jeff Conway. Conway's former fiancée, Vikki Lizzi, told the Enquirer that Conway was "dismayed" to wake up one morning in the 1990s to find Travolta performing oral sex on him. The disconcerting beej was so traumatizing, Conway ended his friendship with Travolta, and Conway came clean about the incident in a suicide note to Lizzi (before a failed suicide attempt in 2006). Lizzi also says that Conway told her that Kelly Preston & Travolta's marriage "was an arrangement… Jeff said that Kelly knows that John is gay, and that's why she's OK with it."

*Travolta's lawyers deny all of the Conway stuff, of course. You can read the point-by-point denial here.

*Another masseur has come forward, but this one claims that he and Travolta had consensual and enjoyable sex. The masseur's name is Luis Conzalez, and you can read his story here. Luis says Travolta is "a great kisser… I know because I had sex with him, and he loved it." Their one night together was, Luis claims, back in 1997 at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, CA. The whole thing started as a standard massage, but within minutes Luis and Travolta were in bed together. My favorite quote: "Travolta may not identify himself as a gay man, but it doesn't dismiss the fact that he likes sex with men." Perfection.

*Radar reports this morning that a THIRD MASSEUR has now come forward to claim that Travolta groped him too. This dude is “New York based” and he says that Travolta groped him during a hotel massage two years ago – but the dude hasn’t decided whether or not he will sue. Part of his story, via a mystery “source”: “The latest masseur says that around two years ago he received a call to do an in-room massage in a five star hotel in New York City. When he arrived at the room he claims that he began to massage Travolta. The man alleges that there was unwanted groping that he endured and that Travolta also indicated that he wanted much MORE than a massage. He also claims that there was alcohol present in the room and that Travolta encouraged the man to drink with him during the time of the massage. The masseur is currently assessing what his legal options are.”

*Kelly Preston posted this video on her website, claiming that John made it for her for Mother's Day. The music is Barbra Streisand, but my first thought was "Why are these loving family photos set to sad violins from Schindler's List?" Right?

That's all I've got for now. This thing is such a mess, and poor Marty Singer (Travolta's lawyer) is putting out fires to any media outlet he can get on the phone. How many times can you really attack the many media outlets with all of these different claims and sources, some of them named? How many times can you pish-posh and tut and say that these reports should just be ignored out of hand?

Carrie Underwood says her relationship with Chace Crawford was a publicity stunt

Posted: 18 May 2012 04:21 AM PDT

I didn’t even remember that Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford were together in 2008 as some sort of couple. I’m really reporting this because I think Carrie is calling out Chace Crawford for staging fake relationships. She told Now! Magazine (dubious source, but still) that she was unsure why Chace was with her back then and feels like it was a publicity stunt. Here’s what she said, and you can tell Carrie is parsing her words.

Carrie Underwood says dating Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford back in 2008 was definitely one of the biggest mistakes she ever made in the romance department. “In my heart, I knew it wasn’t right,” she told UK’s NOW Magazine. “You never really know why someone is with you. I feel like it was more of a publicity stunt.”

[From In Touch, print edition, May 28, 2012]

I looked up what Carrie said about the relationship at the time, and she admitted that they broke up over text message. She also said that the media made more out of it than it was. “It’s difficult while you’re dating because people always make a lot bigger deal of things than they actually are.”

So did Chace spurn her and is she getting back at him for using her for fame, or is she saying that they never really had much going on? Back in 2008 there were plenty of rumors about Chace and his costar Ed Westwick, who were living together at the time. Those two laughed it off and denied there was anything romantic going on between them. Chace was also spotted vacationing with N Sync singer JC Chasez in 2008, and Chasez similarly denied a relationship with him.

Carrie has a history of talking smack about her exes so this doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s calling out Chace for staging a fake relationship. She told Esquire that her song “Cowboy Casanova” wasn’t about her ex, Tony Romo, because “I would never immortalize a guy that did me wrong. I would never give him that much credit.” What about “Before He Cheats?”

Chace Crawford is now said to be interested in ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews. According to US Weekly’s latest print edition the two have gone on dates “a couple times” and “they’re getting to know each other.” A source close to Andrews says “she only sees him as a friend.”

Update: Thanks to those of you who pointed out that Tony Romo is now married to Chace’s sister, Candice Crawford, with whom he just had a baby. So that may be affecting Carrie’s view of her relationship with Chace quite a bit.
