What was supposed to be a happy, fifth anniversary vacation to Cuba for Beyoncé and Jay-Z has apparently prompted some serious backlash for the celebrity couple...and now, possibly even an investigation from the Obama administration! That is, if two Florida Republicans have it their way! As we've reported, questions have arisen over how Bey and Jay were allowed to travel to the communist country, which is illegal under the United States' fifty-year old embargo on it, and Former House Foreign Affairs Committee chairwoman Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and her colleague Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart have now reportedly sent a letter to the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, requesting an investigation be opened to determine whether or not the pair violated any sanctions with their trip. The letter reads:
Now, the only way for Americans to legally travel to Cuba is to be approved for a "people-to-people licences," AKA a visa that allows for educational or cultural exchanges between the countries! It's POSSIBLE that the Obama administration allowed them to go under such conditions, but obviously, this a problem, due to the nature in which the trip has been publicized! What do U think?? | Jenna Jameson Pre-Birthday Bash RUINED! Arrested For Battery! Posted: 07 Apr 2013 12:26 PM PDT Oh NO! Sadly, it appears that Jenna Jameson is up to her old tricks, and getting herself in serious legal trouble because of it, as she was ARRESTED last night for battery after getting into a scuffle with another person! And worse yet, it caused her to miss her own birthday party! According to reports, the porn star was hanging out in the Balboa Peninsula area of Newport Beach around 8pm, with plans to attend celebrations for her April 9th birthday at Heat Ultra Lounge in Anaheim, when she and another person got into a fight! The victim apparently managed to put her under citizen's arrest, and then flagged down a police officer, who then cited Jenna for battery! Yeesh! Talk about WTF, right?! And to think that she was doing so well the last time we heard from her! Such a shame! We hope this was a one-off mistake, gurl! If not for you, then for the sake of your kids! [Image via WENN.] |
| Roger Ebert's Funeral Set For Tomorrow And Is Open To The Public. Posted: 07 Apr 2013 12:01 PM PDT We still can't believe that Roger Ebert is gone, but thankfully, the world will be able to publicly pay tribute his incredible life and say their final good-byes to not just a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, but an amazing man. The legendary film critic, who passed away Thursday after the cancer he'd been battling for years returned unexpectedly, will be honored tomorrow morning in Chicago, Illinois, where he dedicated 46 years of his life to the Chicago Sun-Times. The 10am ceremony will take place at Holy Name Cathedral, and will be open to friends, family and even the public. However, if you do plan on attending in person, keep in mind that seats are available on first-come, first-serve terms! Donations can also be made in lieu of flowers at The Ebert Foundation, c/o Northern Trust at 50 S. LaSalle Street, Chicago. We can't even begin to predict what kind of turn-out his service will bring, but we imagine it will reflect just how much joy and happiness he brought to countless people over the world for so many years. | Madonna RESPONDS To Malawi Controversy: "My Reasons For Being Here Have NEVER Changed!" Posted: 07 Apr 2013 11:43 AM PDT Yes! We're so glad she's finally speaking up! Such a SHAME that her tireless and incredible efforts are being called into question! You may have heard of some of the controversy surrounding Madonna's latest trip to Malawi, as the Education Minister Eunice Kazembe recently claimed that they had not been consulted regarding possible discrepancies over if the pop superstar and the organization BuildOn where supposed to build ten new schools or classrooms for the impoverished country! Thankfully, Her Madgesty, who also brought her adopted children David and Mercy with her to visit their birthplace, recently made a statement on her fifth day there, outside the Consol Homes Orphan Care Centre outside the capital city Lilongwe, which reaffirmed how deeply she cares for the country's children, and how all of her efforts are for them, first and foremost! Ch-ch-check out her words of inspiration (above)! Amen to that! Regardless of any confusion or crossed wires, it is CLEAR that Madonna's sole purpose is to use her position and resources to help improve the quality of life and futures of children, and we couldn't be more touched by the importance she places in giving back and doing good! | Snoop Reveals Serious Ignorance When Discussing Homosexuality In The Rap Community! Posted: 07 Apr 2013 10:19 AM PDT Well, this is extremely disappointing to hear. Snoop Lion recently spoke out about whether or not he believes Frank Ocean's decision to come out last year will make it easier for gay people to be open about their sexuality in the rap world, and sadly, his opinion on the matter illustrates just how ill-informed he is about the LGBT community! According to him:
Seriously, Snoop? This means that you're operating under MULTIPLE misconceptions, the most prominent being that gay men cannot be masculine. Obviously, just like with heterosexuals, it's not either/or when it comes to masculinity and femininity, as EVERYONE embodies different ranges of both! In fact, we'd be VERY surprised if there wasn't at least one individual you perceive to be very masculine who is actually homosexual, regardless of whether or not he's open about it. What's worse, however, is that you assume that if a football player is gay, then he must obviously be attracted to his teammates. Is that how you view all women you see? Lastly, you point out the progress the LGBT community has made in the last two decades, and even go so far as to compare it to what African Americans endured in the past. Yet you don't think the rap community will continue to evolve and change their views as the rest of the world and its inhabitants do? Not exactly the ideologies and perceptions regarding equal rights that we'd expect from someone who was recently Reincarnated, himself. What do U think?? Was Snoop out of line here?? And YEAH. We think it's safe to say that the controversy he's causing is pretty much ALL this song has going for it! Sure, the chorus is catchy enough, but all in all, we'd say this a pretty by-the-book, if not completely weak effort!
