Shaquille O'Neal Retires His Lakers Jersey + Chris Paul & Chris Jr. GET CUTESY Tossing Out First Pitch At Dodgers Stadium Posted: 03 Apr 2013 08:37 AM PDT Retired basketball champ and current NBA analyst Shaquille O'Neal watched at his LA Lakers' #34 jersey was retired last night. See video from the ceremony inside and pics of Chris Paul and his son tossing out the first pitch at Dodgers Stadium. It was a momentous night for sports fans & Laker lovers last night.  The Los Angeles Lakers retired the #34 jersey of basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal at the Staple Center.  During the ceremony, Shaquille was presented with a framed jersey bearing his name and number by former Lakers coach Phil Jackson and Executive Vice President of Business Operations Jeannie Buss, who both made emotional speeches.  Over 18,000 fans, including Jack Nicholson (above), Penny Marshall and Adam Sandler were there to cheer on their former purple & gold Superman.  Nice! Before the presentation, Shaq told reporters, "It gets me real emotional. Growing up in Newark, New Jersey, and my father teaching me about the game, always mentioning Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and telling me when I was a young medium juvenile delinquent that, 'If you do things right, son, maybe one day you can be as great as those guys.'" And now....the words of his father ring true. Shaquille began his acceptance speech with a tribute to Jerry Buss, the deceased owner of team. He said, 'If I had one wish, that would be that he [Jerry] could be here to celebrate this night with us.'  “If you listen to your father,” O’Neal told the audience (which included his six children) while pointing to his newly retired jersey, “this is what you can accomplish.” Watch video of the ceremony here: Congrats Shaq!   In other LA sports news....... LA Clippers point guard Chris Paul and his son Chris Paul II threw out the first pitch at the LA Dodgers Vs. San Francisco Giants game last night at Dodgers Stadium.  And how freakin' cute are these two?! Doger star Matt Kemp was there to catch for the little one. And Lil' Chris looked like one of the pros as he did interviews, chatted with the players and tossed the ball around before the game.  More daddy-son cuteness overload:       It looks like there's a good chance he might not follow Dad's footsteps into the NBA.  Because he looks like he is all about the MLB...   The Randomness: 1. In new shots from her May 2013 British Vogue cover spread, Beyonce keeps it minimal and understated in her curls and natural makeup look.  She's rocking plush comfy sweaters, tanks, casually sexy skirts and striped crop tops with a touch of glam for her spread. And in her second Vogue cover of 2013, Blue's mom is talking about her role in feminism, and her newfound confidence thanks to becoming a mom. On if she considers herself a feminist: "That word can be very extreme...But I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything? I’m just a woman and I love being a woman...'I do believe in equality and that we have a way to go and it's something that's pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept.  But I'm happily married. I love my husband." On her newfound confidence: "I feel like Mrs Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I've ever been.  It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, "OK, this is what you were born to do." The purpose of my body became completely different." On whether she's supportive of daughter Blue Ivy becoming an entertainer: "I definitely want my daughter to have goals and drive and passion - it has to be a balance."   The issue hits stands Monday, May 8th.   This morning, Beyonce posted a 6 second video of herself looking photo shoot or video fresh in a sexy & edgy look walking toward the camera, and announcing a 4/4/13 date. No details on what's going down on that date, other than her 5 year wedding anniversary with Jay-Z, but Mrs. C says #BeyHereNow.  A Pepsi commercial? A new single?  A new album?  A new announcement?  Who the hell knows.  But it's likely something big since she's using her favorite number....

ARRESTED! DJ Clue LOCKED UP For Alleged Drug Possession & Ridin' Dirty! Posted: 03 Apr 2013 07:09 AM PDT Damn homie!  DJ Clue is in lock up thanks to a drug & traffic charges.  Catch the breaking news inside...   Power 105 DJ and long time radio personality, DJ Clue, is in some trouble.  While riding around downtown New York around 2AM this morning, Ernesto Shaw (his government) was stopped at a checkpoint on Varick Street.  And when cops checked his ID, they learned he was driving on a license that was suspended 8 whole times. So, naturally, that led to cops having the right to search his vehicle.  And...of course...three pills wrapped in tin foil were found inside. NBC New York reports he was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operator. Now...why would your 39-year-old well established ass go riding around NYC on a license that was suspended multiple times...when he knows he has illegal drugs in the car?  Either get that ish handled or get a driver.  NY is not the place for that foolery.  Hopefully he handles his situation and gets out of lock up soon. Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Go BABY SHOPPING In Paris + Chris Brown REVEALS How He BROKE UP With Karrueche Tran Posted: 02 Apr 2013 05:34 PM PDT Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were spotted in Paris, France yesterday where they were seen shopping for baby items.  See their candids inside and listen to Chris Brown reveal how he broke up with Karrueche Tran....   Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were spotted in Paris yesterday where the couple was coming out of Bonpoint, a swanky store that specializes in luxury baby clothing.  And Kim has a reason to celebrate this week as her first major film, Tyler Perry's Temptation, became a box office success this weekend and debuted at #3 at the box office.   Meanwhile, Kanye West saw the departure of Kid Cudi from his G.O.O.D. Music label earlier today.  Kid Cudi said there are no hard feelings between the two and he will still release his album, Indicud, on April 23 (though Kanye won't be a part of it).   And in break-ups..... Chris Brown talked to Angie Martinez at HOT 97 earlier and he revealed how he broke the news to Karrueche Tran that he was leaving her.  Explaining that he was in love with two women, he said, 'I wanted to be more of a man.  Me being young, even with relationships in the past, I did a lot of lying, I did everything just to make sure nobody gets hurt in the process. All I am saying is... You don't mess with people's genuine feelings. You just don't!' He continued, I'm not trying to be a player. It's never an easy situation to tell another person that you still love another person, so that's kinda difficult.  But our friendship, me and Karrueche's friendship, is still cool. TV FAB: Phaedra Parks LANDS BRAVO Spinoff "Rich People's Problems" + Zoe Saldana COVERS "InStyle Hair" Magazine Posted: 02 Apr 2013 04:03 PM PDT "RHOA" star Phaedra Parks will be starring on her own BRAVO spinoff next season.  Get the deets on her tv show inside and see Zoe Saldana on the cover of "InStyle Hair" magazine..... In addition to her duties as the sassy Southern belle of "RHOA", lawyer turned reality star Phaedra Parks joins the short list of  BRAVO "Housewives" who've been given their own spinoff series.  According to information released by the network, the show's working title is "Rich People's Problems" and will show Phaedra acting in a legal/judicial capacity.  The show's synopsis reads,  “When the rich and famous of Atlanta have a dispute, they know that only one lawyer will deliver some cold, hard justice: Phaedra Parks of “The Real Housewife of Atlanta.” Whether it’s friends battling over an $8,000 loan or accusations of stolen Chanel handbags or confusion over a prenuptial agreement and whether it entitles you to two or three live-in staff members, the rich certainly have an odd sense of what qualifies as a problem in today’s world, and Phaedra will be there to help them sort it all out.” Hmmm....Phaedra isn't as quick witted as Judge Judy but it sounds like it might be worth a look.  And she'll find herself in good company as Kandi Burruss has also been greenlit for "The Kandi Factory" and NeNe Leakes is rumored to have her own wedding-themed spinoff.   And on magazine racks.... Zoe Saldana covers the latest issue of InStyle Hair where she opens up about how important her hair is to her and her culture.  She told the mag, "In Latino culture, hair carries a lot of history, a lot of weight, and a lot of energy. I always liked my hair. I never wanted to have any other skin but my own, any other hair but my own. Women who spend so much of their lives wanting to have something else miss out on learning to appreciate what they do have.” OUCH. Was that a wig/weave diss?  Zoe's full interview and cover hit magazine stands on April 5.

MOMMY AND ME: Brandy & Sy'rai Iman Smith SPOTTED At Disneyland Posted: 02 Apr 2013 03:14 PM PDT R&B starlet Brandy was spotted rocking a headwrap as she walked through Disneyland with her daughter Sy'rai Smith.  See photos of the pair at the happiest place on Earth inside... Tyler Perry's Temptation star Brandy was seen walking through the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland, with her daughter, Sy'rai Iman Smith yesterday.  And the actress had millions of reasons to celebrate since her latest film opened at #3 at the box office and made $15M this weekend.  Later, Brandy, who also stars on BET's "The Game", was all smiles as she and a friend nibbled on sandwiches and took a break from walking around the amusement park.    Then, they all had a few thrills on the California Screamin' rollercoaster.  Fun times!   EXTRAS: Supermodel Heidi Klum proved that she was a Supermother yesterday as she reportedly rescued her oldest son Henry from a dangerous riptide  on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. MOVIE FAB: Rihanna's "This Is The End" (TRAILER) + Idris Elba's "Only The Name Remains" Commercial Posted: 02 Apr 2013 12:26 PM PDT Rihanna makes a cameo as herself in the new comedy "This Is The End."  Watch the trailer inside and see Idris Elba in his first commercial campaign....   As Rihanna treks across the world for her "Diamonds" tour with A$AP Rocky, die-hard Navy fans will also be able to catch Captain RiRi on the small screen as she makes a cameo in the Seth Rogen’s comedy This Is the End. Hitting movie houses on June 12, the film stars James Franco, Jonah Hill and Craig Robinson, and follows what happens after a big Hollywood party goes left and most of the guests (including Rihanna) are swallowed up by a sink hole. British import Idris Elba, the famed actor/producer/director/DJ does his first commericial campaign as the star of a new series of shorts advertising the Toyota Avalon.  Chosen by Burrell Communications (a Black-owned advertising agency) to front the series of shorts, Idris said, “I’ve never done a commercial before. It was a really good experience, lots of great shots and it’s a great car.” He explained the dramatic, spy-themed advertising campaign saying “The guys are looking for me but they don’t recognize my car, because it does not look like an Avalon." He added, “My favorite part of the campaign is doing all of the amazing stunts,” he said. Watch the clip above....

Beyonce & Andre 3000 COVERING Amy Winehouse For "The Great Gatsby" Soundtrack + Jay-Z LAUNCHES Roc Nation Sports, SIGNS NY Yankees Baller Robinson Cano Posted: 02 Apr 2013 10:56 AM PDT Beyonce's planning a remake of Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" with Andre 3000 for the Jay-Z helmed "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack.  Find out more inside and get the deets on the new Roc Nation Sports launch....   Music sensation Beyonce is among the high profile music acts tapped to appear on the highly-anticipated soundtrack for the Baz Luhrmann-directed adaption of the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, The Great Gatsby.  Teaming with rap legend, Andre 3000, (who appeared on her "Party" single off the 4 album), Beyonce will contribute a cover of the Amy Winehouse's hit "Back To Black" for the movie soundtrack to The Great Gatsby, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire. Set to have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15, the movie's star-studded soundtrack will be executive-produced by Bey's husband, rap mogul Jay-Z.  His contributions will be woven into a music score by long-time Luhrmann collaborator, composer Craig Armstrong, and used to drive the feel of Gatsby’s champagne-infused dance floors and illegal speakeasies, while articulating the film’s “1920s-Meets-Now” sound. Jay-Hova, who was introduced to Baz by Leonardo, spoke of his involvement saying, “As soon as I spoke with Baz and Leonardo, I knew this was the right project. The Great Gatsby is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It’s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist. The imagination Baz brought to ‘Moulin Rouge’ made it a masterpiece, and ‘Romeo + Juliet’s’ score wasn’t just in the background; the music became a character. With rapper Juan Perez serving at the company's president, they partnered with CAA Sports, a division of Creative Artists Agency to co-represent NY Yankees star Robinson Cano (shown above with Jay-Z) as their first client. Jay-Z explained the expansion saying, “Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years." Meanwhile, Robinson, a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, signed his Roc Nation Sports contract earlier today and added, “At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors both on and off the field.  I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates."   Congrats to the new Roc Nation Sports family.
