Michelle Williams at the Oscar nominees luncheon: adorable or too precious? Posted: 07 Feb 2012 08:38 AM PST Here are more photos from yesterday's Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills. I always think this must be one of the best events during the awards season – you don't have to wear a gown, you don't have to pose on a red carpet, you get to eat lunch with friends and other talented people, and you pose for a big "class photo" at the end. It seems more low-key, and as such, it's never a big fashion event. Still, it's nice to look at the photos. First off, here's Michelle Williams, back to her beloved pale colors and Mia Farrow-in-1973-styling. Michelle is actually wearing a Victoria Beckham dress! Eh, I still don't like it on Michelle. I love Glenn Close's face, and I love her talent. I'm happy she was nominated for an Oscar this year. But dear God, that is one ugly coat. I love this color on Melissa McCarthy. Can we talk about how great Meryl Streep looks? She's so beautiful. I love her hair these days, and Meryl isn't a hair person. This look is perfection except for the panty hose-with-open-toe shoes thing. I actually like Rooney Mara's outfit here. The blazer is Thierry Mugler and the jumpsuit is Asos. The pants need to lose an inch or two, though. Viola in too-bright Juan Carlos Obando. I love her in bright colors, but this is just too "look at me!" for my tastes. Octavia Spencer looks great here. I love her hairstyle! And here's a little Demian Bichir, because I haven't been paying enough attention to him. He's fine, isn't he? |
Lindsay Lohan’s latest cracked-out Terry Richardson photo shoot: sad & pathetic? Posted: 07 Feb 2012 08:09 AM PST Terry Richardson (otherwise known as "Uncle Terry" or "Pervert Terry") just published a photo shoot with Lindsay Lohan, taken at the Chateau Marmont. LL is back to living at the Marmont, you know. She moved out of her Venice Beach crack den, and now she's living (working) out of the Marmont, where sources say she back to her old tricks and then some. Some say she hooking, some say she's just giving it away as some kind of cracked-out tit-for-tat for work or drugs. God knows. You can always count on Terry Richardson to exploit it, though. Uncle Terry did a photo shoot with the Cracken for Love Magazine – we saw the photos yesterday. Some say she was trying to do Marilyn Monroe once again, but I tend to think she was just doing herself, I guess. In this set of photos, I guess LL is publicly campaigning for the part of Elizabeth Taylor still – in several of the shots, she's holding up the excellent book Furious Love, all about Taylor's love affair with Richard Burton. Allegedly, Megan Fox was also in the running, but Megan's camp seems to be shooting down those rumors, while Lindsay keeps telling people that the part is hers. Poor Elizabeth Taylor, being used like this by a crackhead. It makes me sick to my stomach. By the way, I'm just using the Richardson photos where LL is (relatively) clothed. If you go to Terry's Diary, you can get a look at plenty of shots of crack-nipple and meth-face. This whole photo shoot is just so… sad? Is that what it is? Or is it just pathetic? photos courtesy of Terry Richardson via Terry's Diary. |
Nick Carter missed his sister’s funeral because his family didn’t tell him about it Posted: 07 Feb 2012 07:56 AM PST
We haven’t covered this story yet because it’s sad. Just thinking about it is getting me teary-eyed, particularly these latest details. Leslie Carter, 25, died at home with her parents last week from a reported overdose of prescription drugs to treat mental illness. Leslie is a member of the semi-famous Carter family that was featured in the “House of Carters” reality show on E! in 2006. She was married and leaves behind a 10 month-old daughter. TMZ reported that prior to her death Leslie was living with her family in upstate New York in an attempt to quit using medication she had become dependent on. Her family had left her alone for just an hour and when they returned she was unresponsive. One of Leslie’s brothers, singer Nick Carter, 32, didn’t make it to her funeral over the weekend. He told TMZ that his family didn’t let him know when or where it was, and plus he had a concert to give. Nick also gave a statement to E! acknowledging the “complicated dynamic” in his family:
[From Huffington Post] At Nick’s concert he did dedicate a song to Leslie, and some audience members held up pink paper hearts for her. How sad that their family doesn’t get along well enough for Nick to go to his own sisters funeral, or is that a cop out because he was otherwise busy? Couldn’t he just have flown there, and would his family have turned him away at this time? This is tragic story, both in terms of a young woman dying and her family not pulling together after her death. I hope that Nick can reunite with his family somehow. I know in some families there’s just too much to overcome and that even a tragedy can’t make up for the past. With their history there’s probably more than one feud going on. Duchess Kate gets back from vacation, then spends hours in the hair salon Posted: 07 Feb 2012 07:40 AM PST Duchess Kate has returned to England following her two-week Mustique vacation with her family. Prince William did join Kate for the vacation, he just came there days after she arrived. I yelled about the "tone-deaf" PR of the vacation, but in the end, I took some of it back. It was probably nice for William and Kate to get away together (with her family) before William's six-week training session in the Falklands. But don't think that Kate and William were trying to get pregnant during their vacation – British sources are still claiming that it will be another year before any royal baby-making goes down. So William has officially left his duchess wife for the Falklands – I thought he was going to be on the base there, but People Mag says that he's serving on a warship. It's almost the 30th anniversary of the Falklands "conflict" (war), and there are some concerns that the UK and Argentina could be entering into another "conflict" – I don't know what William's presence means for the politics of the situation, but whatever happens, I seriously doubt William will see any war games or action. But that's the point of this story – as William departed for the Falklands, Kate returned to London. All of last week, while Kate was on vacation, the palace was telling every media outlet out there all about Kate's plans to do a mountain of charity work while William was away. So what did Kate do upon her return? She spent several hours at the hair salon. She went shopping. Seriously.
[From Us Weekly] ONLY three hours! Because Kate's hair is a national treasure! I mean, I'm sure she needed a visit to the salon because of all of the vacation wear-and-tear on her hair. I'm not saying she's an awful person because she spends hours in a hair salon. I'm just saying that the palace should really stop trying to convince us that Kate is so diligent, hard-working and "normal". She's just a spoiled rich girl who spends the bulk of her time on vacation, shopping or grooming herself. Also: CB just said that the only reason Kate would spend that much time in the salon is for extensions. I AGREE. Oh, and here's a days-old story in The Mail that just cracked me up – it's all about how the Queen is trying to gently encourage Kate to, you know, do something.
[From The Mail] I would love to know the Queen's real opinion of Kate. I remember hearing that the Queen was very pleased with Kate and William's royal tour of Canada, but beyond that, I have to wonder if the Queen is a bit displeased with what kind of a royal bride Kate is turning out to be. As the Queen would say, "We are not amused." |
Brad Pitt & George Clooney’s bromance dominates the Oscar luncheon Posted: 07 Feb 2012 06:48 AM PST These are new photos of The Bromance of The Ages, Brad Pitt and George Clooney at yesterday's Oscar luncheon in Beverly Hills. Jonah Hill was around too – because he and Brad have been bromancing hard during their respective Oscar campaigns for Moneyball. But George swooped in to claim Brad, and thus, we have these photos. Brad and George were also talking about each other during their luncheon interviews too:
[From Contact Music] It's funny to think that Brad Pitt and George Clooney are only two years apart in age. Brad is 48 – George is 50. Brad still has a boyishness about him, and although Anistonloonies are always complaining about how "bad" Brad looks these days, can't we all agree that he looks pretty damn good for 48? You could argue that George looks good for 50 too – although George has looked like this for the past 15 years, pretty much. Who looks better? They both look really good in these photos, but I’m liking Brad more these days. His hair looks great! |
Rachel McAdams, bangsy at ‘The Vow’ premiere: the worst she’s ever looked? Posted: 07 Feb 2012 06:14 AM PST I've always thought that Rachel McAdams was adorable. She's super-cute, and she's one of those girl-women that will easily be able to play young(er) characters because of her inherent "cuteness". When she's 40, people will still think she's in her 20s, and she'll always have fans because she seems so "real" and like the cool girl who could be your neighbor. So it pains me to say this – Rachel McAdams doesn't know her own strengths, and she just torpedoed herself by styling herself like a 50-something Real Housewife. With that adorable, dimply face, with that great bone structure and that girl-next-door sex appeal, WHY in God's name did Rachel do this to her hair? It's not just the too-thick, too-long BANGS TRAUMA (full-on), it's also the cheap looking dye job, the horrible makeup, and the budget-looking Vivienne Westwood dress (that washes her out). Jesus, Rachel. Why did you do this to yourself? So these are photos of The Vow premiere in LA last night. Maybe The Vow will be a hit movie for Rachel – even though it looks sappy and terrible, I suspect lots of women want to see it. Rachel's career choices are weird/bad enough – but does she have to do this to her personal, celebrity image too? God, she just looks like hell. She never really "wows" me on the red carpet, but some really good stylists need to offer Rachel their services. Meanwhile, Channing Tatum looked fine. His wife Jenna was at his side too – I didn't care for her dress either (it looks like a reconfigured Victoria's Secret baby doll), but at least her styling doesn't make me want to cry and scream to the heavens. |
84 lb model with 20″ waist claims she eats junk all day, nutritionists disagree Posted: 07 Feb 2012 06:10 AM PST
[From IBTimes.com and Radar Online] Other sources claim her diet consists of “toast with jam or eggs for breakfast and has a snack of chocolate and crisps around 12pm. Lunch [is] sausage, chicken and potatoes, while later in the day she fills up on bread, meat and cheese sandwiches.” It’s hard to believe that anyone who weighs 84 pounds and looks emaciated could be eating like that and snacking on potato chips and chocolate. I tend to side with the nutritionist – the woman must be exaggerating how much she eats. Maybe she’s got a medical condition that makes it impossible for her to gain weight, though. It happens and it’s not like she looks healthy at all. That kind of waist requires some extreme corseting, doesn’t it? I don’t even want to look that up, but I will. It turns my stomach to think of reducing your waist like that, it just looks abnormal and it doesn’t seem like it can be achieved without a small waist to start with. It reminds me of Chinese foot binding. Photo credit: BARM and Facebook |
Beyonce & Jay-Z step out together for Jay’s Carnegie Hall charity concert Posted: 07 Feb 2012 05:28 AM PST We need to talk about this, but we don't have all of the photos. You need to GO HERE and HERE to see the new Beyonce pics. For the first time since giving birth (cough), Beyonce stepped out for a public appearance. She was supporting her husband's charitable work – Jay-Z and Bey were at Carnegie Hall for the first of two shows that Jay performed for to benefit the United Way of New York City and The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Bey wore red Alice Temperley and she looked… interesting. Little Blue Ivy was born just a few days short of a month ago, and Bey already has her figure back, of course. We can argue about whether her hips are bigger or whether she's always had those hips, but can we all agree that Beyonce's "post-pregnancy weight loss" has been spectacular? I mean… really? Here’s one photo from her outing: During the Carnegie Hall show, Jay dedicated a version of "Glory" to Blue Ivy, telling the audience, "Put a hand in the air for Blue!" After the Carnegie Hall show, Bey and Jay went to his 40/40 club, where they partied for hours. Jay was also at the club for the Super Bowl too, although Bey didn't join him. Page Six reports that Jay "was spotted in a main floor booth, in plain view of the hundreds who packed the luxe sports bar's every cranny. Yankees hurler CC Sabathia and the Knicks' Carmelo Anthony appeared from a private viewing room upstairs to join Jay at his table. After the Giants prevailed, the crowd sang 'Empire State of Mind' in celebration." Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet and Beyonce Online. |
TMZ: Tom Brady’s teammates “feel betrayed” by Gisele’s critical comments Posted: 07 Feb 2012 04:33 AM PST Yesterday, everybody was talking about Gisele Bundchen's post-Super Bowl comments. To be fair to Gisele, it's not like she spoke directly to a media outlet and publicly squawked about her husband's teammates. But, it wasn't like she was really trying to be gracious and hold her temper either. When she was heckled by some Giants fans, she was caught on camera telling a friend, "You have to catch the ball when you're supposed to catch the ball… My husband can not f–king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times." Gisele to Patriots: EAT IT. Here's the video: So even though this video made me slightly sympathetic towards Gisele (I like how emotionally invested she is in Tom's career), everyone was pretty much like "Gisele really shouldn't have thrown Tom's teammates under the bus like that." And thus, a TMZ follow-up story is born:
[From TMZ] Thus far, the Patriots' spokesperson hasn't said anything (reporters note that the dude just shut his mouth and shook his head), but Pats defensive back James Ihedigbo told reporters, "You can’t point fingers at anybody. Wes made amazing plays all season. You win it as a team; you win it and lose it as a team. And we lost to a good football team.” So, what's the verdict: is Gisele a total bitch for throwing Tom's teammates under the bus, or are the Pats acting like big babies in the face of legit criticism? |
Karl Lagerfeld: Adele is “a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face” Posted: 07 Feb 2012 04:32 AM PST Oh, Karl. I was all prepared to get super-mad at him for some unfortunate things he said about Adele, but once I read his full quote… I still love the old Anger-Bear. I actually think the Kaiser (the original Kaiser) is getting a little bit softer. Yes, he says that Adele is "a little too fat" but he cushions it with "she has a beautiful face and a divine voice." Does that make it better? Does "a little too fat" even count as an insult when it comes from Karl Lagerfeld? Do I have to be outraged on Adele's behalf when I think that FOR KARL, he was offering a very sincere compliment? Anyway, enjoy this new interview with Karl – it's wonderful. He loves Michelle Obama, he thinks Russian women are beautiful and he actually says this wonderful line - "People in magazines are 50% bimbo and 50% pregnant women." PERFECTION.
[From Metro] I have to wonder if his comments about M.I.A.'s one-finger salute aren't also about his recent encounter with Kristen Stewart – she was photographed flipping the bird in front of Karl – "Nowadays people give the middle finger quite quickly – it’s not the best behavior. Everybody does that, what’s new about that? It’s just become a bad habit." That's Karl's way of telling K-Stew and M.I.A. to sit down and STFU. But seriously, doesn't he sound nicer in this interview? What's going on with him lately? Did he steal the soul of optimistic youth? |
