| Posted: 12 Feb 2012 09:13 AM PST Last night, a who's who of the entertainment industry walked the rep carpet for Clive Davis' 2012 Pre-GRAMMY Gala and Salute to Industry Icons Honoring Richard Branson and Diana Ross. See pics of Diddy, Cassie, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and tons of other YBF folks inside............
Though they had just been informed with the horrific news of Whitney Houston's death, Clive Davis (shown above arriving with Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz) said Whitney would want the music to go on. So celebs hit his annual pre-Grammy dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the same place where Whitney died in her 4th floor hotel room.
Clive gave heartfelt and difficult words to the audience. We posted them HERE.
Birthday girl Kelly Rowland looked like she was paying homage to Diana Ross with her big hair and sequins. Absolutely love this gorgeous multi-blue gown on her.
Wiz Khalifa (above) walked the red carpet with his boo thang Amber Rose, who rocked this animal print gown with a revealing slit. And it looks like she was either extrememly upset by the Whitney news, or something else was going on. Is that green lipstick to match the tat?
Always one to pull out a show stopping number, Toni Braxton worked this black and silver gown with a long train. She's looking fab in her 40's.
Debra Lee (who wore an interesting fur trimmed skirt) arrived with her daughter Ava. NeYo looked dapper in his red velvet sports coat.
Legendary music icon Berry Gordy was in attendance.
Esperanza Spalding made an interesting effort with this number. Not sure what she was going for but.......does this dress look like it was made of recycled materials? Serena Williams wore a simple emerald ombre strapless grown.
India.Arie rocked a white pantsuit.
Garcelle Beauvais looked stunning in this white gown which she paired with a pair of sparkling sandals. Going for the Grecian goddess look...
Sheila E does not seem to age. Looking fabulous Ms. Sheila. Shaun Robinson showed off her slim & trim figure in this fitted black number.
Gayle King --sometimes, it's all about the accessories.
Jimmy Jam was there with his wife Lisa Harris.
And Gladys Knight also walked the carpet.
Miguel looked pretty dapper in his mustard colored suit.
And Ciara stayed close to LA Reid, whom she hopes will salvage her career. I'm actually loving the two toned bleached blonde and brown roots.
Gabby Union still pulled off this gown even with a serious mug! She said on the carpet she thought the Whitney news was all a hoax--much like the emotions she went through last week with the Eddie Murphy hoax.
Diana Ross (who was honored) brought out her entire family (sans Rhonda). Hey Tracee!
And she caught up with mentor Berry Gordy.
Diana Ross, who was also honored earlier in the day by the Grammys for her work as a solo artist and as one of The Supremes, posed with Serena and Kim K. Monica and Brandy also performed. During his speech Clive said he told Whitney they were honoring Diana (shown with son Evan) at the party and he revealed that Whitney said, "Oh i love Diana!" Diddy also hung out with Toni Braxton.
Jennifer Hudson (who will be performing a tribute to Whitney at the Grammys) was spotted clapping it up during the show.

Ne-Yo & Compound Entertainment hosted their annual pre-Grammy Midnight Brunch last night in L.A. But this one was different as it turned into a Whitney Houston tribute party. And tons of celebs came out to support. Pics and details inside...
Ne-Yo made his somber arrival with girlfriend Monyetta to Hollywood hotspot Supper Club last night. Partygoers had learned earlier of Whitney Houston's untimely death, but they kept the festivities going in her honor:
Good friends Estelle, actress Tika Sumpter and many more celebrated Houston's legacy by dancing to her hit songs spun by DJ MOS, while toasting shots of Malibu Red.
Brandy (who was presented with a cake as it was her 33rd birthday), her new boyfriend, and Whitney's close friend Ray-J even made a brief appearance after leaving Clive Davis' party. She even got serenaded with a birthday song by Marsha Ambrosius. Singer Miguel also did a special surprise live performance for guests.
Sweet!
Both Estelle and Tika rocked cute bright looks for the occasion.
A "Girlfriends" reunion! Toni Childs & Joan Clayton (Jill Marie Jones & Tracee Ellis Ross) were spotted posing it up together. We miss these two! But is that an Addidas track jacket Jill?
Ne-Yo's girlfriend and children's mother Monyetta Shaw was there chillin' with her friends.
KeKe Palmer went hot pink on the carpet.
Director Chris Robinson--who does plenty of Ne-Yo's videos--came out to support.

The Roc family was out in full force for the annual Roc Nation pre-Grammy brunch yesterday at the Soho House in L.A. Peep the pics of Rihanna, Christina Milian, J.Cole, and more inside...
Rihanna rocked a Bottega Veneta Resort 2012 strapless pantsuit ensemble made of a basket-print taupe/olive fabric. And hit the carpet with her blonde hair for the first time. And as the brunch took place before Whitney's death, celebs were in good spirits in the beautiful setting. The party was DJ'd by Samantha Ronson. And the beautiful folks noshed on some yummies--passed smoked salmon on brioche and Kobe short rib sliders, mini parfaits, a crepe station, and two bars — one omelet, one booze. Nice.
Not loving the dark vampy makeup with such a light hair color.
And Rih showed of her Louboutin Pigalle pumps which she had autographed by Mr. Christian Louboutin himself.

The music world rocked yesterday with news that pop music icon Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48. Inside, get reactions from celebs like Quincy Jones, Bobby Brown, Clive Davis, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey as they reflect about Nippy. Since news of her death began to spead Saturday, many of Whitney's industry friends and admirers have posted/tweeted or released statements about her legacy: Her mentor, Clive Davis, arrived to his pre-Grammy party and told the crowd:
As Bobby Brown took the stage tonight in Mississippi, he told the crowd: First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, I love you, Whitney! After officials being in talks Jennifer Hudson to create a tribute at tomorrow night's Grammy awards for the late Whitney Houston, it's now been confirmed. Details inside... Executive Producer of the Grammy Awards, Ken Erlich, announced just a while ago that Jennifer Hudson will indeed perform a tribute to Whitney Houston during tomorrow night's big show. No show details have been released, but Ken did say that it is simply too early for a full out large scale tribute outside. Other developing details about Whitney's untimely death:

In stunning news confirmed by her publicist, Whitney Houston has died. Details inside….
The Associated Press has confirmed that legendary singer Whitney Houston is dead at age 48. Her publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown. At this time, it is unclear as to the reason of her death, as well as the location. Whitney Houston is the definition of "icon" in this music business, having rose to fame in the 1980's and still being the absolute Holy Grail of powerful voices. She just recently filmed the remake of Sparkle co-starring Jordin Sparks.
We are beyond saddened, shocked, and disturbed by this news. Our condolences to her only daughter Bobbi Kristina, and her entire family. |

Alicia Keys and Katy Perry, in Alexis Mabille Spring 2012 Couture gown, were among the celebs who came out for the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute to Paul McCartney.
