Kelly Rowland COVERS The Fall Issue Of "RUNWAY" Magazine, Talks AGAIN About Growing Up With Skin Color Issues

Posted: 08 Sep 2011 08:38 AM PDT

Here I Am singer Kelly Rowland is setting it off for New York's fashion week by covering the fall issue of RUNWAY Magazine. See the cover photo, behind the scenes video, and hear what Kelly has to say about being a brown-skinned girl inside.....

In her 8-page spread shot by Derek Blanks for RUNWAY Magazine's fall issue, hitting newsstands on September 9, Kelly Rowland gets very candid about what it felt like being a dark-skinned girl surrounding by a sea of white students.

She tells the mag,

"I went to a predominantly white school and I was the only black girl. I can remember thinking, 'I don't want to be as dark as I am - I want to be a little fairer.' I didn't want to be me. Tina [Beyonce's mother] sat me in front of the mirror and said, 'Girl, look at how pretty you are.' She made me feel comfortable in my own skin,”

She's mentioned this before in interviews.  It's a plight many brown-skinned girls had growing up, and some still do....

On the heels of his latest book which hit shelves yesterday, Tanning Of America, businessman Steve Stoute (who is the branding and marketing genius behind some of the biggest celebs you love) has created a web series for AOL HuffPost where he talks with some of Hip Hop & Pop's leading tastemakers (like Jay-Z, Pharrell, Lady Gaga)  about the interactions of race and business and how both are impacted by pop culture.  Watch a clip inside....

Steve Stoute, star of ABC's "Shark Tank" and the author of The Tanning Of America: How the Culture of Hip-Hop Rewrote the Rules of the New Economy, has made a name for himself in both the music industry and through linking some of music's biggest stars with high profile endorsement deals and business ventures (e.g  Justin Timberlake/McDonald's, LeBron James/State Farm Insurance) through his Translation Consultation & Brand Imaging company.

Now he is hosting a video series called “The Tanning Effect" with AOL HuffPost Media Group where he talks to superstars like Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams and Lady Gaga about race, business and pop culture.  Interesting food for thought..especially for our fab business savvy readers.

BABY FAB: Nick Cannon Says BOTH Mariah & Baby Monroe Are DIVAS + Mel B. REVEALS Baby Girl's Name!

Posted: 07 Sep 2011 05:14 PM PDT

Earlier today, proud papa Nick Cannon stopped by "The Talk" to dish on raising twins that rival their mama Mariah Carey in the "diva" department.  Get the deets inside and find out what Mel B and husband Stephen Belafonte named their newborn baby girl...........

Nick Cannon stopped by "The Talk" earlier today to discuss "America's Got Talent" and his new journey as a father.

In one laughing moment, he revealed to the audience that while Moroccan is laid back, his sister Monroe is a little diva (maybe like her mama!) in that she wakes up screaming and crying until she gets exactly what she wants.

And he talked about the birthing experience saying that he was almost a production manager in the delivery room because Mariah made him, set the mood, and the lighting, along with playing her live performance of "Fantasy" at Madison Square Garden while the children were coming out of the birth canal.

Wow....that Mariah is too many things.  But in a good way.

Also in baby news....

We told you earlier that reality tv star and singer Mel B and her husband Stephen Belafonte had given birth to a baby girl....and now we know her name. The happy parents added Madison Brown Belafonte to their family last week.

Madison joins older sister Phoenix (from Mel's first marriage) and 4-year-old sister Angel (her child with Eddie Murphy) at home. Stephen also has a daughter from a previous relationship.

A friend close to the family told RadarOnline:

"Mel and Madison are home from the hospital. The baby is very loved, and her sisters are absolutely doting on her. Madison is a very happy baby."

Birdman FLAPS His Wings At Haters Suggesting He BOUGHT Lil' Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" Sales

Posted: 07 Sep 2011 01:23 PM PDT

We told you previously that Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter IV album scored the second biggest sales debut of the year on the BILLBOARD charts recently, but some folks are accusing Birdman of "buying" most of those albums. Get the deets inside and find out what Birdman said in response....

Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter IV album hit #1 on the charts this week with 964K sold, and while most artists would be celebrating, Weezy and Birdman are on the defense.  Especially since the two of the biggest rappers in the world--Jay-Z & Kanye--only sold about half that their first week on their collabo album Watch The Throne.

Birdman stopped by Sway Calloway's Shade 45 "Sway in the Morning" radio show to talk about the disc's success and to defend himself, after he was accused of "buying" up most of those albums and inflating sales.  He told Sway,

"People doin' different numbers (referring to others saying the sales were inflated)....But this comes from Billboard. To me, that's a million; 964, we right there, so it's cool. We'll just keep grinding, I guess."

And when asked if Cash Money "bought" Weezy sales, he said,

"Nah, man, that really don't make no sense. Why would we do that? I press and distribute 'em. Ain't no need for me to buy 'em. That's hustling backwards; we ain't in it for that. I ain't ever been a part of that type of scheme to be buyin' records. We don't do that, homey.

We be working too hard to be — that don't go with what we do. We truly what we do. We're real about what we do, we work hard every day at it, and we work for the people. That's what we do music for: for people. And we appreciate the love they give us back. But no such thing as me buying no CDs. I wouldn't even play it like that."

And there you have it.   But do you believe him?

BET announced today that cutie Larenz Tate will start in an original film called Gun Hill for the network, which will soon begin shooting in NYC.

Written and directed by Reggie “Rock” Bythewood, the flick is described as a fast-paced, gritty cop drama involving identical twins, one is a cop, the other a con, whose lives become intertwined one fateful night when the cop is killed and the con assumes his identity.  Hmmm......that storyline sounds enticing already.

Posted: 07 Sep 2011 10:37 AM PDT

LaLa Anthony, in a flattering "eye trickery" Stella McCartney dress, and her hubby Carmelo hit up "Regis & Kelly" this morning in NYC.  Check out video of the NBA couple talking lockout, reality tv with "Full Court Life," and more inside....

The NY natives also discussed how difficult it was to go through the trade, but how happy they are to be back in NYC. Melo also balled it up a little with the hosts:

Cute dress for La.

Chanel Iman COVERS The October 2011 Issue Of "ELLE" Mag

Posted: 07 Sep 2011 10:25 AM PDT

YBF chick Chanel Iman covers the 2011 October issue of "ELLE" Magazine where she and other Victoria's Secret models teach readers how to be sexy.  See the pics and get their advice inside....

Starring in a pictorial called "How To Be A Bombshell," 20-year-old Chanel Iman graces the 2011 October issue of "ELLE" Magazine.

She rocked a bondage-esque cutout Hervé Léger by Max Azria white one-piece, a chunky Lanvin necklace and Gucci's lemongrass-hued parka and gold python miniskirt.

In the mag, she is joined by fellow Victoria's Secret models Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, and Doutzen Kroes.

Inside, Chanel wears a black VS one-piece with cut out sides, and offers advice to readers saying,

"Any woman who has a positive attitude about herself and carries herself with class but doesn’t try too hard and say, ya know, ‘Hey, look at me, I’m a bombshell,’ is basically a bombshell. It’s just a woman with a positive, strong attitude who knows she has it going on.”

Also in magazines......

Rihanna was named the "Sexiest Woman Alive" by "ESQUIRE" Magazine recently and they've released a "sexy" video that proves why she deserves the title.

For whatever reason, Esquire yanked these images and apparently it was all a misunderstanding.  Rihanna wasn't named "Sexiest Woman Alive," but, instead, actress Katrina Bowden was.  No word on if Rih will still be inlcuded in the issue in some way though.

In the video above, Rihanna appears to be topless and smears dirt all over her body while gazing at the camera. Sexy much? Some fans seem to think so.

By the way, the spunky brunette announced that she won't rerelease LOUD as originally planned, but will go into the studio and make some new music.

She tweeted:

"I tht abt a RihRelease, but LOUD is its own body of work! Plus u guys work so F?CKIN hard that u deserve to act brand new!!!"
